My 02 car doesn't meet the standard, an 04 car with the same engine does, how come ?
Anyway, living outside the expanding zone and work half a mile inside it, means it's going to have to go. Not happy.

pretty sure that from 2002 to end of 2005 the FF had the same bmw 4.4 440nm/210kw engine...

it changed to the jag engine in 2006 with a 6 six speed box .. ... - .- -.

the ID system is not reliable. In Bristol a friend had to get rid of his 2014 RAV4 and get a new Rav4 hybrid to be eligible for the new clear air zone. My 2011 4.4TDV8 is apparently allowed in. Who knows?? Rolling Eyes

mmm, very interesting. a 4.4 tdv8 of 2011 gets in surely thats an anomaly...as my 2012 4.4 doesn't. and i know that a few of the older 4.4 petrols, from 2002-2005, have also managed to scrape through... possibly from the older LPG certified status, and riding the old 'alternative fuel' flag. again, my old 2002 didn't. ..and was LPG certified...
however, interestingly, i have an old 1996 bmw 840, with the later 4.4 v8 engine. m62b44 engine... which went on to become the m62tub44 vanos engine.. in the l322. this engine, can be exempted from ULEZ, by contacting BMW and asking for a 'certificate of conformity' via chassis number and reg... you get a pdf document back, which states the emissions, which are under the current limit of euro5 for petrol.... you then apply to TFL with your logbook details, and it gets exempted...which gives me some leeway, as its not old enough to be a 'classic car' yet. in the eyes of TFL. so i wonder if there is/was a process that LR might also have done, which meant that a select few m62'd l322's were exempted.... i'm very interested in anyone else TDV8 4.4 being exempted.... and would like a bit more confirmation that this is indeed true. and not a mistake... there is of course the proposed wider London ULEZ area, and the existing LEZ area. which i believe is the same boundary... and virtually all cars are exempted from the LEZ, as thats a commercial vehicle type charge.. i have my views on the ULEZ charge, which often involves foul language, so won't go into that here. but interested to hear any others with exemptions, and reasons/theories as to why. thank you.

My 2011 4.4 tdv8 is allowed into the Birmingham clean air zone. My son's Nissan Juke and my wife's Renegade are not though! Go figure.

my 04 V8 BMW engine is not ULEZ exempt - registered 30th July 2004

where did you get the info that another 04 car did ??

Looked at some for sale, found an 04 plate one on eBay, ran the number on the TFL site, says it meets the standard , no charge. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165787506151 BJ04GNY

53 plate 4.4 that's compliant https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314242279806

There’s no magic to it - if it’s petrol and you can show it meets Euro 4 levels of NOx emissions, it’s compliant. The database used by the TfL checker just checks for full Euro 4/6 compliance - it was full of errors to start with. I’m sure there are still cars that slip through and vice versa.

just checked online tonight and all good - phew Smile

Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)
This vehicle meets the ULEZ emissions standards
You do not need to pay a daily ULEZ charge to drive in the zone, and are helping to improve air quality across London.

I sent an email to JLR today asking to clarify Euro 4 compatibility for my 02 car. Will update if I get a reply.
