Exactly the same thing in mine- I engage the outer one nearest the door easily then the other I tend to line it up, then push down on the seat base as I engage it in- can be a bit fiddly but it goes- as said before, takes some getting used to but it does work. I have had exactly the same issue and it is definitely a design fault on some of the vehicles as others are so much more easier to install isofix into...I tried the guides which didn't really help and dig into the leather seat, the only thing that I have to do is to release the seat and move it forward a bit, this shows the isofix bar more clearly and assists... I need more help than most...sorry !!

Used to be the source of much swearing in our household, as said, extend the base out so the legs are at their longest. I used to create a hole with your spare hand so you can see alot better what's going on, it's as tight as a tight thing.

Thanks. Yes I was planning to tilt the seat forward a cm or two, think I am going to take the seat base out and start fresh by aiming to get the tough side in first. I just need to find some time today as the kids not playing ball!

As mentioned, my arm refuses to stay fully extended once I put pressure on it when pushing in. 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8.

It’s been ages since I used one but I recall pushing from the locking mechanism , took me ages to get the technique right.

DONE!

Turns out the key tool I needed was two more hands, drove to a mates who helped me by opened up the gap a little more with his hands (which was already quite big due to me messing about so much with it) while I pushed it in, still a pain and fiddly but it worked and took about 2 mins. So my key takeaway is it’s a 2 person job.

Out of curiosity are the arms pretty much the same between brands?

The arms seemed universal to me when looking at child seats, and these look exactly like the arms on mine aside from the colour. Some seats/bases may have arms that extend longer than others perhaps (useful in my case) but I guess as a universal system the way they are made and attach has to be to a certain spec.

However the seats and bases are quite different. For those in the market for one I do recommend the Cloud Z i-Size range from Cybex if your budget allows. It swivels so the kid faces out on entry and exit, once mastered it’s very easy to get the kid in and out. We use the carseat that extends almost flat on the pram instead of the bulky pram cot (Cybex Lux) most of the time too. Handy…

I’d also highly recommend the Thule Chariot if you lead an outdoor life / have dogs, easily the best thing we have for them especially this time of year.

It’s been genuinely good for life away from town, but is a bit bulky for around town which is rare for us tbh.

It’s amazing how quickly they grow up, my 3 year old jumps in herself now and fastens up the seatbelt etc! I also have a 4 week old so going through all this again.

Congratulations on the 1 month old. Mines 7 weeks and changing by the day. It’s her first trip in the l322 later today, had to wait patiently for the final isofix arm to click in…! 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8.

My wife is due in 6 weeks.

We’ve bought 3 of the Cloud Z reclining seats and the bases too. Shame they don’t recline in the car like they do on the pram for longer journeys but hey ho.

Main reason we bought the Cybex stuff was it’s 1 of only 2 makes that fit the Land Rover pram

P.s. I believe the seats don’t recline in the car for safety reasons. Guess it would create more lateral movement during an impact. It’s surprising how tight the straps have to be when I was shown how to correctly put the baby in! 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8.
