ULEZ compliant D4’s are the same money as XC60 mk2’s and I’m not sure I could live with the crank failure risk on top of £30k to buy one. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

ULEZ L405 SDV8 even more money - much more money. ( and a bit too 'luxury/high status signaling' for me) 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I see your problem.

The Disco 5 would give the same V6 problem or, more worryingly still, the 2.0 Ingenium.

There’s no obvious answer here.

I’ve just rechecked your original post; keep the L322.

The XC60 would be like giving up for me Sad

If I was going to keep my L322 I wouldn't be asking the question Wink - what's your experience of owning or driving an XC60 BTW? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I was going on this sentence in your original post:

“…so it may well mean I keep the L322 longer…”

Although I’ve owned Volvo’s for many years, I’ve never owned an XC60, but one caught my eye on the road about three years ago. I went to check it at the dealers and I was disappointed at the time. It felt like an ordinary small car / cross over, with a slightly elevated driving position, rather than a compact 4x4. Even against something like a Disco Sport.

Would an early Disco Sport, with the 2.2, be compliant?

I’m already keeping it longer than planned and am just making plans for when it finally has to go. Expecting anything to be a disappointment post L322 and will have to trade that for running costs and reliability. Disco sport may be an option and will check it out - thanks for the suggestion! 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Just looked into the Disco Sport and I may have to nudge the XC60 out of the way. Only worry is the engine but it ticks all the other boxes and then some. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

The first 9 months - ish of production had the, sought after, 2.2 from the Freelander - very robust and reliable and good for 200,000 miles Thumbs Up

AFAIK the 2.2 is not ULEZ compliant which rules it out. Also now looking at the Jeep Cherokee. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

"Also now looking at the Jeep Cherokee."
I've made that move a few times but always returned to the RR.
IMHO they look great value and are impressive on a test drive but after the novelty wears off I always get irritated by cheap plastics, badly positioned switches and a host of other petty things that you wouldn't notice or care about if you'd never had a RR.

They are about £10k less than an equivalent D4 which is quite something to consider. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

And after a few weeks you’ll probably see why, they just feel a bit second best.
