2012MY

Hi y'all,

Over here from Disco3 (owned 2) and Defender2 (own a 90). Contemplating a FFRR and wondering if anyone has knowledge of the forthcoming 2012MY specs. How might they differ from 2011MY and what'll be new?

TIA!

Thanks Mick. Sounds like dramatic (or drastic....?!) changes then! When should it be official.... August / September? Cheers!

Mick is referring to the all new model which is unlikely to be on sale until March 2013.

For the 2012MY of the Range Rover, it will be a minor no of changes. I would say Range Rover wheel roundels in line with the Evoque and AB Ultimate Edition.

Maybe glitzy special editions to shift the old uns before the spangly new one arrives in 2013. Cool

My main line of thinking was whether the 2011MY and 2012MY would be wildly different (thinking residuals...) but it sounds like major variation will not occur just yet then. 2012 - 2013 could be more major.

Thanks guys.

LR had record sales of FFRRs this year though so they aren't struggling to shift them!

Apparently dealers received notification of 2012MY specs (and price increases!) today. Orders from July (MY build changeover) will guarantee 2012 spec for delivery in September, by all accounts.

My local dealer promised to send details to me, but once again their ability to make contact with customers is conspicuous by its absence (how they ever sell cars is beyond me - they must rely on peeps going in with a bundle of cash and saying "that one, please"). I'm soooooo reluctant to chase them, on principle.

So, nice people in RR land Thumbs Up - does anyone have the details that were released today? TIA

No details but speculation:

I think the SC may get the 8 speed box and rotary selector.
RR wheel roundels - pretty much confirmed I think.
I doubt there will be any new colours due to supply problems, although LR may try and pass off 'Sumatra Black' and 'Buckingham Blue' as back by popular demand...

Dealers now have the 2012MY info. Can't remember if S/C gets 8 sp and rotary, but changes to TDV8 are minor. Seem to remember that Jet leather is discontinued due to low take-up. Colour coded door handles for all and the major thing is cosmetic: black light surrounds front and rear (I'm thinking along the lines of the Volkswagen look).

Nothing too drastic though and not enough to make me wait, so a 2011.5MY it is! Smile

Black light surrounds - what does that entail?

Jet leather discontinued? That seems very very odd - Lookers Park Royal only ever seem to spec Jet and Ivory leather interiors on their 'stock cars'

Not sure how they knew, but a local dealer mentioned the light surround colours changing about ten weeks ago - they also said some paint colours would be changing.

Just found the 'product brief'....

"12MY is a minor update programme which aims to freshen the exterior through the application of subtle changes to the headlamps, front grille and tail lamps and through the application of body colouring to the door handles and the side vent surrounds.
The exterior design pack is re-introduced and a new Dynamic Pack option offers a significantly discounted price for the combination of the Exterior Design Pack and the Style 18 Shadow Chrome Wheels, a highly desirable combination."

Not sure who thinks the EDP is 'highly desirable' Laughing IMHO, of course.

Exterior changes:

"Gloss black head lamp black plates – provide greater definition for the head lamps

Gloss black tail lamp back plates – provide greater definition for the tail lamps

Gloss black painted front grille surround – subtle change helps to highlight grille finishes

Body coloured side vent surrounds – helps smooth out the side profile

Body coloured door handles – helps smooth out the side profile"

and....

"For all derivatives, the wheel centre caps change to a design featuring the Range Rover logo."

It's Jet/Storm that's deleted....

"some of the low take colourways have been deleted, details as follows:
Oxford Leather Jet / Storm
Semi-aniline Leather Jet / Storm
Semi-aniline Leather Duo-tone Storm /Jet
Semi-aniline Leather Duo-tone Sand / Jet
Autobiography Jet / Kingfisher"

Veneer:

"All Grand Black veneers will now feature a 'RANGE ROVER' inscription inlay"

and....

"All Autobiography veneers (Prussian Blue, Anthracite Lined Oak and Ash Burl) will feature an 'Autobiography' inscription inlay"

Exterior Design Pack:

"The Exterior Design Pack is reintroduced for 12MY and will be available in Fuji White, Indus Silver, Buckingham Blue, Sumatra Black, Orkney Grey, Bournville and Ipanema Sand"

That's about all, folks.... except prices go up about £500 Rolling Eyes
