I must have been dreaming.....

I swear I've seen a post here about modifying the gas struts with added springs to achieve a 'powered opening' effect from the keyfob.

However, after searching the forums and the wiki for the past hour, I've still failed to find anything on the site.

Am I going off my trolley, or does anyone else remember this?

More importantly, has anyone done the modification? The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Nope, it didn't Stan! That's one I'd already read through when searching, before asking the question.

My recollection was that someone had fitted small (yellow) springs onto the gas struts and this meant that there was sufficient 'push' upon unlocking with the keyfob to automatically lift the tailgate. Still needed manual closing, but would be handy when carrying a couple of shopping bags etc.

The thread had spring sizes and suppliers too - everything needed for a DIY attempt.

Or was it all a dream......

I'm sure I saw it on the Facebook L322 group last week sometime hit the remote top tailgate lifted fully.

Thanks to you, I've cancelled my appointment with the psychiatrist!! The post was indeed the Range Rover Owner L322 page, but it was back in Oct 2021.

Yes, was on Matts FB group last week or at the weekend. Looks like the springs put enough pressure on the tailgate that it springs up enough for the gas struts to take over and it to continue to rise.

I’m guessing that it also has the effect of making it slightly harder to close, but at least it will stop it thumping shut….

That’s probably my thought… always pushing on the latch and the struts. Might not be ideal….
