Air suspension fault

Hi
Been having an air suspension fault that has resulted in the suspension being stuck in access mode .
Started with the drivers side going up and then back to normal , happening when turning or cornering.
Today all the suspension went down to the bump stops and now won’t raise ,
Images attached in order of appearance ,
Vehicle is TDV8 2008 model .

I changed starter motor through the wheel arch method and car was on axle stands correct place and jacked up using drivers side jacking point , I had it up pretty high and was up for about 3 days before parts arrived ,

I’m thinking I may have knocked sensor or crushed a pipe , would a damaged drivers side height sensor cause all the suspension not to raise , compressor seems fine in that I can hear it in boot

Hi,
You need a code reader to get the exact fault but based on what you say, my guess would be you have broken/misaligned/ or maybe damaged the wiring to the height sensor.

It is not in access mode, it is on the bump stops! 2010 3.6 TDV8

Definately agree with RRYorks and as you suggest yourself, sounds like you've dislodged the connecting rod to the height sensor, or knocked off the wiring clip / damaged the wire - Easy enough to check if you have a look with the steering on full lock.

Yes, one sensor disconnected or giving wildly innacurate readings (if it's rod is disconnected) will cause the issues you're seeing.

Thing is looking at the shot of the info display, it seems to show the nearside height sensor as the culprit! So check both sides.

From this image posted by the OP, looks to me like the NSF height sensor is giving a reading that's literally 'off the scale':

Ah -- Only looked at the second image, which appears to show the OSF sat high.
Agree first shows NSF miles out

Hi all thanks for all your input .
I’ve ordered a pair of front height sensors.
I checked the sensors like suggested this evening but nothing noticeable to me .
Will swap them over at weekend and take to garage if I can’t clear the fault .
Images attached of the height sensors , incase you eagle eyed chaps can see anything

Just a quick question about the height sensors.
Do they require any maintenance? A squirt of silicon or grease on the moving bits? Or just ignore, and make sure they're not caked in mud?

The bottom picture shows the top part of the sensor arm in the wrong position, just needs rotation to pount down instead of up, its caused when the suspension has been hanging.

Once you do that you should be fine

OK, so the rods arent broken. Have a wiggle of the connectors - that might help.

If you have diagnostic equipment, check the voltage output from the height sensors. If you don't then I'd recommend looking at replacing the nearside front (NSF) sensor first.

The sensors receive a 5V supply voltage and their output varies with movement.

So output voltages should be between 0 and 5v. At normal height they typically give an output voltage of about 2 to 2.5V
