Wi-Fi Enabled with Data Plan

I have this in my car and am not sure of the real benefit. Can someone help explain the value, please?

I use it to connect an iPad when stopped. That way, you can even watch television on the net rather than having a receiver.

You’ll possibly say that you can use your phone for that but my contract only has 2GB per month. Only use it for phone calls and texts.
