Deleting a previous profile from the navigation system

Hi everyone, I have just become the owner of a 2017 RR/V and previously owned an earlier example of this wonderful vehicle.
I am having a problem resetting the profile on the navigation system, it keeps welcoming me with the previous owners name and trying to get me to drive to his/her home. I genuinely have had a good look at this to find a way of deleting the old profile, I have read the manual but still not found the right way to do it, clearly it needs a more thorough course of looking at, but can anyone offer a quick way of sorting this out ?
Regards
Ian

Tap navigation, then help or profiles scroll down to add profiles I think it's something like that I'm sure from the navigation screen.

Hi,

Thank you, but I've tried that, it has added my email address to the previous owners profile, but has not removed his/her name and home address ? Can't work out what I'm doing wrong.

Did you change the home address as well, I think it will keep the previous name as an added profile.
Now that I changed my profile to my name and home address when I search navigation my name is there as hallow ~~~~, not the previous owner.

a quick google came up with this..might help,

to edit a profile, select the edit profile icon¹ from the SMART SETTINGS screen. To delete a smart settings profile, select the edit profile icon¹ from the SMART SETTINGS screen. From the PROFILE screen, select Delete profile. The user can choose from a selection of personalised profile icons³. ... - .- -.

Have you created your own profile yet online (on the website)?

I did this with my dealer ahead of handover and then I had to swap the vehicle profile for my new one. There's a process for this

If this was purchased from an authorised dealer, the previous owners details should have been removed during the used car inspection & preparation. It's a breach of the DPA 2018, which may well get some people huffing & puffing about compensation - that's not my point, you really need to make the dealer aware as the process they should be following, isn't being followed, sooner or later, it will be an issue for a previous owner.
That said, I'd be making sure that I delete my details from the Infotainment systems and the car is un-linked from my online 'account' when I traded it in in the first place. Yes, you can get the previous owners address from the V5 but you can't get their previous destinations etc. including work address, spouse's details etc. etc. plenty of social engineering opportunities with that sort of information.

@Iandiver,

We had the same issue with our MY2017 L405, I tried everything, but the previous owners profile refused to go away.
We had to contact LR Customer Service and provide proof of purchase, photo of the new V5 document, and a copy of photo ID with our address to them, but they sorted it within a couple of days. The previous owner should have deleted their profile before selling the vehicle, but it seems many do not. His home address and favourite destinations were all still in the nav! Shocked “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I also had this problem, bought car from main dealers and they never deleted / reset the previous owners details. I managed to sort my self( but sorry was a year ago can’t remember what menu it was in )
I did bring it to dealers attention as it is Data protection issue and it clearly states on workshop check sheet that a factory reset should be carried out. But they don’t really know what you’re talking about / or care.
