Time for a TDV8 Perhaps?

My car has been in for a service today and I worked out that by the next service it will be pretty close to 100K. I've been thinking about the swap to a TDV8 (2nd hand of course) and wondered if I kept mine till it was in triple figures, the value would drop alarmingly quicker.

It has lots of great points about it, such as being a facelift model, full spec Vogue, a few optional extras, superb condition, reliable, MOT for 11 months and having just been serviced, so perhaps now is the ultimate time to sell it privately?

The thing is, I don't really want to get rid of it, I am not bored of it, I love it! Big Cry I know I will love the TDV8 even more sure, but I'm just weighing up the potential risk of keeping it and hoping nothing major goes wrong or selling it on and getting a newer lower miles car for more peace of mind.

Any thoughts? (Or buyers! Whistle ) Discovery 4 HSE

You would be amased at the differance. But if you're happy why change. Just think of the cost to change, could be spent on the RR you have now.

From my latest unscheduled visit to the dealer Crying or Very sad I noticed that the prices seem to have gone up on second hand models. Not a scientific study I know, but there were older vehicles than mine on for £6-7k more than I paid nearly 12 months ago. So it may be time to get rid of the current one, but I presume the price increase applies to TDV8's as well, so it's all relative.

If you've got the reliability settled on yours, it's probably as good as it'll get. A TDV8 under warranty will equal the same time spent in the dealership, just your wallet emptying slower (although you'll effectivley be paying for that "peace of mind" in the purchase price).

After all the effort to get yours looking nice, I'd keep it and get another 100k out of it.

That's exactly why I won't drive one! If the dealer offered me one as a courtesy car, I'd be tempted, but would have to say "no, please give me the usual Freelander so I can be grateful when I get my TD6 back!". In the words of the great 80's/90's superband Confused James - "If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor!"

I give you a month before you are installed in a TDV8 (and that is only because it will take you that long to find the right one for you) Thumbs Up

Never raced nor rallied right! Rolling with laughter

The Dealer gave me an 09 plate Freeloader XS in White. Manual TD4. CRAP! It may be 4 years newer than my TD6 and have 81,000 miles less on the clock, but getting back in the RR was such a nice feeling.

I decided some time back I will be very picky with my next car and it needs to have the following attributes:

Vogue (obviously)
TDV8 (goes without saying)
Stornoway/ Zermatt or Java
Jet Black interior with either Piano Black or Burr Wood
FACTORY Privacy Glass
Supercharged Grill and vents

The 2nd hand market is pretty rubbish at the moment, prices are sky high for even 56 reg models. Seen a nice one at Charles Hurst park Royal in Black, but it's knocking on the door of £39K.

I could KICK myself so hard because about 6 months ago I found a Silver Vogue SE on a 56 plate at a dealer down south going for only £28K, it had less than 30,000 miles too. B Censored llocks Discovery 4 HSE

went into my local l/r dealer thats not to far from jct 5 , m5 and the chap on parts said that where as most companies are bringing prices down they are putting them up i.e they have a early non facelift RR not sure on fuel type in silver , 22s , tints blah blah very nice it is but wait for it .......................24k yes 24k the price i think they have no hope.
anyway mine is around the 90k miles and had everything done to it so hopefully all the bugs have been ironed out and im gonna keep it for a lot longer yet as its just so practical for my everyday life , its scratched , dented and well used for what it was designed for and it dont bother me maybe if i braught a newer vehicle thats all shiny and purfect id be scared to even get in with wellies on,

also at same said garage they offered me 5k for mine against a newer vehicle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just have a very long hard think about what your giving up for the money a dealer will offer you against spending 30-40k onto no6 Range Rover

£26k for a pre facelift in dealers on friday. Again nice, but with 18" wheels. Was a little gobsmacked.

Maybe the price of facelift models will go down when the MY10 starts hitting the streets.
