TDV8 3.6 MAF and Fuel Pressure Readings

Hi all, in need of a bit of advice if you would all be so kind!

After many trouble free miles I suffered top hose intercooler splits, bit of tank tape and all was well. Having swapped them over for new ones it’s not been quite the same. Low down power lacking and awkward gear changes.

I’ve blanked the EGR at the same time too. I’ve done a smoke test and no leaks showing. Looking at the diag on Autel the Maf and fuel pressure are reading too high. The attached images are taken at idle.

Would blanking the egrs affected this or unrelated?

There are no codes showing or error messages displayed.

It’s a 2010 on 95k miles.

My old 3.6 tdv8 did exactly as you are speaking following split intercooler hose.

Fitted new genuine LR and later on BAS silicone pipes and it never drove the same ever again.

I could tell the difference when test driving another 3.6 at a dealer.

I checked everything and even had the turbos replaced thinking maybe one or both got damaged from overspeeding due to the boost leak but alas I never found a solution before eventually trading it against a facelift 3.6 unfortunately.

I would be interested to know if you resolve it!

Thanks for the reply, I’m half way through your thread. Need to read it all properly to understand and apply to my case.

It does seem like the same scenario entirely though. Everything looks ok but it just isn’t going as it should.

Have been tempted to map out the egrs but think this was present before they were swapped. I did approx 200miles on the new hoses with the egr in place still.

I’m pretty handy but with nothing coming back code wise I’m not sure where to start past the obvious.

I did notice a bit of oil around the OS short hose on the inlet, I’ll take it off for investigation. Nothing showed up from
The smoke test though.

I’ll keep at it!!

Hello, did you managed to get this issue sorted? I’m having the same problem but getting the code Р0489-00 for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) control circuit low and in restricted performance all the time

I never did figure mine out and ended up trading in for a facelift 3.6 as mentioned above.

I guess the original poster of this thread also never managed to figure it out as there's no further posts.

It was very frustrating as for me it ruined the only Range Rover I've ever fell for. (All my subsequent ones could not meet my expectations)

In your case it may be a different issue due to the fact you have a code for the EGR circuit and your in restricted performance.

Myself and the OP of this thread never had any codes or restricted performance.

Is yours a 3.6 or 4.4 tdv8?

Mines is a 3.6 2010 facelift, hoping it’s maybe related to the EGR then

As yours is a 3.6 tdv8 you could physically blank the EGRs and map them out.

This would more than likely resolve your issues as the EGR system would no longer be functioning.

If you'd prefer to keep everything factory then I'd start by looking at the live data for the EGRs, view the commanded and actual values for both EGR valves to see if they are functioning.

With the fault code you are getting I reckon one of your EGRs is sticking/has failed.

When looking at the live data (recorded whilst driving or have someone else drive whilst you view the data) see if the actual value of one of the EGRs is either unable to match the commanded value or seems to be fixed in place.


For example you might see the EGR on bank A being commanded to 80% open but it's actual value is stuck at 40%.

The above would I believe be an example of an EGR stuck open.
