I've just done all the interior bulbs as well to help preserve the battery a bit.

You'll be fine unless there is something ACTUALLY wrong with it. You won't be able to watch TV on it for a long time without engine running; that's normal

These late models got smarter at retaining battery power. They will shut everything down after locking and if you leave the ignition on they will shut down automatically fairly quickly below a certain threshold of voltage even with a new battery. Never had a problem with mine and regularly leave it parked for a week. Having said that if the battery is the original it's probably past it's best and they are cheap enough to replace. I assume as you are on your 8th RR you have a GAP IID tool? - if not buy one 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

I bought a new 90aH lead acid battery for mine on the 12th Sept 2022 as I was having battery warnings every morning with the original battery

I may be wrong but AFAIK the charging circuit on the late models L322 is designed to only work with AGM batteries. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

where did you read that - AGM batteries started being fitted as standard in the L405, I thought the main reason was to accommodate the AUTO Stop/Start feature, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I cannot find any late L322 that comes with AUTO Stop/Start as standard ? |

The late L322s didn’t leave the factory with AGM batteries, then LR found there were lots of battery issues being reported and they were retro fitted. Not sure if it was a recall or just at next service etc…. Something like that happened as far as I’m aware.

so, customers complained about the battery, the main dealer swapped it out ( I assume under the 3 year warranty) and then they updated the BMS ECU software to make sure the AGM batteries only charge to 80% - is that right ?

Must have been something like that. I think the 80% thing was always like that. It was mentioned in the press pack at launch of the 2010/11 car.

You can set the battery type in the GAP tool but not sure if you can set lead-acid vs AGM. All charging from the alternator requires mechanical load from the engine so the later 'smart' system only charges what's needed so as to save fuel and not like old systems when it was 14.7v constant load. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |
