Hi all

One of my headlights has had a scratch on it since I got the car. Anyway got a decent priced one on eBay in good nick except it’s missing the rear bulb cover so thought I’d just use mine.

However it’s turned up and it looks like it’s been driven with it off for a while as there is dust and dirt on the inside of the glass or plastic front. What’s the best way of cleaning the inside?

Was thinking something along the line of remove all control units bulbs etc and carefully pour some distilled water in while trying to keep off the led indicators? Or maybe some kind of solvent instead? Any ideas welcome! Current stable:

May have been on this or another forum but a member removed the assembly from the car, removed all the holders, poured some dry rice into the headlamp & gently shook it - the rice polished off the dirt leaving the lens & reflector clean & polished after the rice was removed.

Worth a try (but don't eat the rice afterwards).

I may try that I’ve read swishing rubbing alcohol is a good start. Current stable:

I had a good result with a Co2 fire extinguisher a few years ago, wasn't a fatty headlight though.... all bulbs out and a squirt through each hole in turn...  Pete

Two magnets with a velvet coating are often used to clean the inside of Ferrari headlamps... They seem to age like they have smoked 20 fags a day for some years!
