key wont work

Hi all,
Hope you can help me.
Changed the battery in the key as I had :low battery warning:.
New battery didnt work,so I changed back to old battery and it still doesnt work. This was a new battery as I had the warning come up previously,so I changed to new battery, but still got low key battery.
Can get in by using door lock, but alarm goes off, also car doesnt start but can turn to position 2.
Do I have to program the key again or is it something else.
Thanks.

UPDATE

Rang a workshop who deals in all things LR.
They suggested disconnecting battery for 1/2 hour, which I did.
No change.
Alarm still goes off, cant sync key.
Has anyone got any suggestions on my next plan of attack.

All help greatly appreciated.

UPDATE 2
Tried reprogramming key but didnt work after 1/2 doz attempts.
Have an old key with the buttons not working anymore(hadnt had battery in it
for past 3-4 years). Put new battery in it and it cancels alarm in ignition 2 and WILL start engine.
Keyfob still dont work on either of them. Also suspension raised from access mode to standard height. Censored

Will get iid tool on it tomorrow when I have some time and see whats going on.

Oh the joys of computers in cars. Big Cry Banging Head

I sometimes look at a RR more as a network of computers with an engine & wheels.

UPDATE 3
Put the iid tool on it this morning.
Had the usual faults plus a couple of 0X?? faults.
Cleared them all and rechecked, the usual faults plus the 0X?? faults that dont come up on search engines.
Took it for a drive and it all went smoothly.Suspension lowered to hwy mode on hwy, nothing untoward at all.
No 1 problem: Have to use old key with battered buttons to start it as other key wont turn to start the car.
No 2 problem: Remote wont work with either key, have to get in via drivers door and alarm goes off as soon as door opened. Key in ignition and turned to on position to turn alarm off(the old key only).
Have tried reprogramming keys, didnt work, the red light on key(s) not coming on nor door locks doing there "thing".
Can anyone tell me what to try next as I am out of ideas(the internet is useless with this particular problem)
Am I up for a new bcm?
All help greatfully appreciated.

cheers
