Insurance

Has anyone else seen the astronomical prices which insurance companies are charging to cover these cars. A few weeks back I was getting quotes for around £900 a year which I considered reasonable considering my age (54) and where I live (up north). But now the best quotes I can get are around £4,000 which is absolutely ludicrous.

This must be an error on their system / database because even an old gen SVR is cheaper to insure than a L460 and they are getting stolen / written off all of the time.

If it is not an error then it looks like the insurance companies are taking advantage whilst JLR have got our pants down.

Have you looked at multi car policy? I faced a similar problem last year when trying to insure my AB, best part was Land Rover insurance refused to insure it. Another member suggested I went down this route and was pleasantly surprised by the quote.

Will definitely give this ago. Same here, they are refusing to insure all new RRS and FFRR and when I gave them a call they mentioned that the prices are all over the place because there are so few on the road. Apparently none have been written off or stolen so far in the UK, but I assume that is because they are so rare. Hopefully with more cars being delivered now the prices will normalise slightly.

JLR need to do a deal with an insurance company and offer them cheap replacement parts. In the hope they are more sensible insuring the car.
Someone bought a new 460 from our dealer. Lived in London. Got it home & the best insurance he could get was £6000.00 & he lived in a gated community.

The insurance is going to be a barrier to ownership. JLR need to pour oil on these particular waters. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...
