After dragging my feet for over a month I have decided I am going to list my 2006 Alveston Red 4.2 S/C - most likely at the weekend once it has been fully valeted and good photos taken. The car has done 59,500 miles and has full JLR/Specialist history - most recently serviced last week (with rear pads done too) for £500. The car has side steps, tow bar, dog guard and LR roof bars - everything works on the car and there are no error messages on the dash. Pricing this is going to be hard in the current climate - I have seen dealers listing similar cars for £10k (with higher miles) - would £8k be pushing it for a private sale? Keen to hear thoughts

I recently sold my Evoque via autotrader. Mine didn't have a full dealer / garage service history, but I could evidence my own servicing and fixing up of it.

I worked it from a couple of angles.
What would I get from various "we buy your car" valuations as a low-end bracket.
What is the closest match I can find to my car on autotrader ... use all the refine options to get as close as. That then gets you your prime range of competition.
Then broaden it back out from there and compare how yours is to them.
Then decide what I would be prepared to accept as a sale threshold. i.e. if someone offered me X or more, I would accept as it was going to be a value well above the base

I then priced it above that threshold enough that I was OK to be knocked down in price from the asking, still reaching something above my threshold, and well above what the likes of 'buy it now' places were offering.

When buying my FFRR last month, the dealer wasn't for budging much from their asking price citing that autotrader already marks whether an advert is decent or not. In my case, it was marked up as a good deal, so it was hard to argue against. ( That being said, they had to do full pads, discs, new 22" spare and 4 suspension arms to get it through the MOT for the sale, so effectively I won out )

When it comes to an autotrader advert, it'll quickly say whether your ad is a decent deal, and it takes minutes to adjust things to make it decent. V8 or else ...

Is it the older interior or facelift? Fundamentally I think that will have a large impact on the asking price. Two tone leather is also a tough sell, much better if its single. How many owners? Lastly how is it doing for rust? Those are the key things to be honest. 2005 E60 M5

It's is a pre-facelift. Leather is just one colour - no rust as it was garaged until 2020...2 previous owners

is your petrol classified as Euro 4 - if it is you should easily get £8k for it in good nick

It is ULEZ free I know....I don't recall seeing Euro4 on the v5 but will check - thanks all for your help
