Does anyone know if this will actually work? Doesn't state what "extra" functions you get though.

Looks to me like the extra functions are associated with the adaptive cruise control which your car will not have. Look at the left side of the controls, there's an additional side button with similar emblems I had in my RRS SC that controlled the distance held by the adaptive cruise, nearer or further.


Look at this shot of my steering wheel in the sport and note the top left button:

I wondered what those buttons were!

Not my type of upgrade really, but thought someone may be interested. I'd rather just buy a MY10 and get all the other gubbins as well (when I win the lottery! )

I have the light for the adaptive CC in my binnacle - I wonder if it would be possible to retrofit the gear from BMW (just thinking out loud)

One may need a new CC ECU plus whatever radar thing is fitted at the front, and appropriate cabling. This is all fitted to the 7 series I believe? 

It's JLR's own system, not BMW's.

Sorry, I wasn't clear, mine is a 2003 BMW built model, the adaptive CC icon is in the binnacle but never lights up obviously. I noticed it the other day when the sun shone on it. 

Seems I answered my own question - there is a retrofit for the adaptive cruise control as fitted to the 7 series:

Whether it would work on the RR is anyones guess. Although i'm initially guessing not. 

I wouldn't bother, I had it and have to say, prefer normal cruise control. It wasn't good enough to know if the obstacle was in your lane or to the left so often would jam on the brakes unexpectedly when passing a lorry.

The only thing that I would use again from the Sport was the radar warning beep to tell you when you were getting too close to the car in front. Great on foggy days and when you were feeling slightly lazy or tired, an extra set of eyes for you. Discovery 4 HSE

Never really been comfortable with the radar cruise systems (especially if they're behind you!). The more they make driving just a matter of turning the steering wheel the less concentrating the driver does.

I only use CC when it's appropriate. The radar system allows you to use it when that wouldn't normally be the case (and get complacent with it!).

Mk1 eyeball and brain will always be better in my opinion. Save the money for something else I reckon.

Just out of interest, can you disable the radar system and just use the normal cruise type functions?

I use CC all the time on the M-way. But find it frustrating sat behind people who cant keep at a contstant speed. For example drive for 10 miles at 70mph and someone overtakes you, then for 5 miles you creep up on them, then you have to overtake them, then in another mile they overtake you and slow down again....

Now I set it at 85 and just sit in the fast lane, moving over for the occasional BMW.
