Fuel gauge sensor, 08, 3.6 tdv8

Hi gentlemen, I have a felling that the fuel gauge sensor is not reading correctly. Yesterday the gauge and trip screen, told me that I had about 1/3 full. The gauge suddenly dropped to zero. The gauge has fluctuated since. Could some one tell me the part number for the sensor please and is it difficult to replace it.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers, Phil.

Pretty easy to replace - fold up the rear seats and you'll see some holes in the carpet. Beneath are all the gubbins to the fuel tank. There's two round inserts to the tank.

It's a single pump/sender unit so, unfortunately the whole part needs to be replaced. Part number is LR015179. They're around £300 in the UK for OEM or £500 for genuine. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Phil

There is a LR tech bulletin on joints within the tank that MAY apply to your model year.

Should show up on a web search.

There are also lots of posts on here on the problems with the sender and how to access etc.

5th post by Bushy.

And here's a good post about access and fixing.

I've been in there for the same symptoms as you and found the pump had fallen over?? Did the joints at that time and my own repair for the pump falling over. It's in here somewhere.

There are values for the senders' reistance values about (in the WM I think) which may help identify if the senders are faulty.

I think the pumps are the same in your MY so HTH. Cheers

Lots of people have had this problem including me, as already mentioned it’s usually the connector wires in the tank, simple to cut out the black Plastic connector and replace with bullet connectors. I would do it sooner rather than later as the car can think it’s running out of fuel and shut down the engine leaving you stranded !

My fuel gauge stopped working so yesterday i did the connector on the drivers side with some crimp connectors all working again now, Word of advise good idea to crimp wire at top first before cutting plug from lower wires as they can drop into the tank and be hard to find in the diesel (Dont ask how i know that )
