Hi all - I've been hearing a distinct ticking from engine bay, notable RHS as you stand in front of vehicle.
175k kms on the clock - adequate service history, very well maintained with a lot spent on it last year.

I've had it for a few weeks and going through issues.

It wouldn't normally bother me but my last Land Rover (Disco 2) needed engine rebuild after ticking noise...

Any advice appreciated.

I can't hear any unusual Sounds in the clip?. It sounds the same as my engine & that's done more mileage than yours.

What do you think is causing the sound?. These engine are fairly bullet proof.

Mine rattles on start up, but it's been like that for six years now

Just listened again & possible chain rattle, but as previouly mentioned, sounds the same as mine . Keep an eye on it & see if it gets louder. May pay to do do an oil & filter change.

A bit paranoid about LR engine noises, although have heard similar from my 4.0 TJ Jeep and Z3 2.8, just not as loud.

Oil and filters definitely on the list!

What oil do you guys use? I use 5w30 A5/B5 as recommended but I am thinking to switch to 5w40 RR HSE 4.4 2006 LPG

I use Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 A5.
