The other half was asking me yesterday if i was going to put an order in for the new facelifted FFRR , and on thinking about it i was wondering , should i wait and see what the MY11 will finally be unveiled like.

As most of the Car magazines are of the opinion that the LRX concept is going to be the Next Range Rover but in a 4 door version.(Release Date = Sept 2010)

Just wondering if any of you guy's are thinking along the same lines ......... and if so what would you go for.

1/ The Facelifted 2010 Mdl
2/ The LRX 2011 Mdl

Or if anyone knows different as to what the final Mdl will be ..................  ====================================

I dont the the LRX is going to be the 'NEXT' Range Rover Mick, I heard it was going to be another Range Rover Model, like the Sport was but even smaller.

The LRX will be the " Baby Range" and its size similar to a Fiesta - rumor I have heared. XJC, RRV8, Series1 86 and 107% of real pleasure

I've seen the LRX in the flesh and can confirm it is no bigger than a Fiesta.

The sloping sides of the cabin do no favours to the interior space.

Having said that, it is probably no different to something like an A3 or Scirocco, and I would certainly prefer one over a Fiesta.

A Fiesta sacrifices looks for practicality, so has a reasonable sized interior compared to the overall dimensions of the vehicle.

I don't see the point in it for someone like me, its way too small to consider, just because it will be all new technology etc means zip to me.

Its going to be smaller than the Freeloader, but more expensive as it will be badged as a Range Rover. Not sure who they're aiming this one at. I'd rather buy a 2 year old TDV8 Vogue for the same money. Discovery 4 HSE

Surely the Landrover brand is as strong as the Range Rover brand?

To me the concept of branding "luxury or lifestyle" Landrovers as Range Rover is missing the point.

When someone asks you what you drive, you answer "Range Rover". That used to be enough, and people would make their judgement there and then. Now they ask "which one?" meaning FFRR or RRS (usually with that expectant look that you'll tell them it's a Sport). I always respond with "a proper one!"

LR can shove the Badge Engineering up their hoops! To me Range Rover is one model, Discovery is another, along with Freelander. Can't they think of a new name for new models (LRX is a bloody good name if you ask me).

RRS owners probably love the fact that their car is associated with a brand that makes their car have more status than it deserves. For the same reason, FFRR owners have the status of their car degraded - All this with LR putting the prices up for the FFRR.

Larry, spot on...I totally agree. Badging a range of different vehicles as Range Rover does little but dilute the name. Rules are made for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.

I think that, very sadly, LR will be using the Range Rover name as a trademark for all its models.
They did it with the sport, and think they will do it also with the LRX that, basically, is one of those city crossovers.

In my opinion that's bad news, because at that time we will end up owning cars like the mercs, audis, bimmers, vw's, Porsche's etc.. were all their cars are the same on the inside/outside, and you never get that feeling of buying something truly out of the ordinary even though you're paying a whole lot more than the basic model. You're just buying another one....

I particullarly don't like that.

People always go on about cars having a "face".

The LRX looks like a grinning idiot! and the MY10 RR looks like its got a cheesey smirk. Are they trying to make the range seem more fun?

I prefer the more sober, serious look of the current RR.

If the brand gets diluted (?) why should you care? It's still the same vehicle that you had before somebody added to the list of models somewhere.

In the same way, an old (pre-VW) Skoda is still a Skoda and it doesn't increase in value just because corporate ownership changes down the line.

My FFRR is just a 'Rangie'. A friend of mine had a 'classic' and now has a P38. They are 'Rangies' too. If someone wants to call a RRS a 'Rangie' then it's up to them. It's still a D3 with poor boot-space and it doesn't affect me in any way.  The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom
