Unique Auto Carply Devive , tell me if I'm being unfair ?

I got one of the Unique Auto Carplay devices from another member on here. he sent me the whole unit, box, cables etc. as it had been supplied. I installed it as the instruction supplied by AU (I have to sy the instructions are not very clear on crucial cable connections IMHO)

It works but there is no audio from the Apps, Music yes, Apps no....

My first port of call was to check the obvious, the hard wired connections.

I contacted UA and basically got told to palm sand as I don't have the origonal order details etc. (I have asked so will see) I only asked if they had a wiring / connection diagram, that's all, nothing more.

So my question is, am I being unfair in thinking that that's a bit crap ? I'm not asking for anything that could prejudice thier intellectual property rights, just simple info.

If I'm wrong then I'm wrong ut otherwise I'd say that's pretty crap and would suggest don't get a used one, until enough of us had a knowledge base built up the hard way.

Thoughts ??

I know it's a PITA but can understand their reticence as the unit could have been sold because it was out of the warranty period and faulty...

I have the same unit fitted in my 405... Maybe i can help you out? What exactly is wrong with yours?

I wasn't asking AU on the basis is was faulty, simply a connection diagram..

Anyway, the issue is that when I connect via Bluetooth via the JLR firmware in Audio I can access, sort, play music files from my apple music app on the AU unit. When I want to use Waze or anything else there is no audio

Thats because it should be connected via a 3.5mm jack plug to the Aux input! Not via bluetooth...

My point was, How do they help you without spending valuable time? That they don't get paid for?

That's not in the instructions ! And also why I wanted the connection diagram. I'm now a bit confused as usual, the unit has the 3.5mm lead which extends into the Aux input... how do I connect the phone ?

I'm missing something.... having connected the 3.5mm jack, I reset the connections and have no audio at all from the phone. Are there any instructions on these things ?

Have you done what Craig suggested and connected your phone via Bluetooth to the UA unit NOT via Bluetooth to the car. I presume you will have to "forget" the Bluetooth connection from your phone to the car...??? Pete

Hi and yes, the phone and AU device are bluetoothed togther. As far as I can tell I've followed the steps... but obviously missed something. The instructions, to me at least, are premised on the user already knows how the unit/phone connects and functions. So I too am assuming th same from a lack of detail. Compramise in everything it seems

I’m assuming you press the nav button to go to the CarPlay system?

I've sussed it, I think !

What is not explained anywhere is that once your in Aux and Nav, then other audio inputs are disabled, seems obvious maybe ? Not to me it wasn't. So if I want Waze and radio, then the radio must be streamed. Fine as long as you know and your data plan allows for it.

Thanks

Yes that’s it…

To be honest I just leave mine on Bluetooth as the audio quality is better on the factory high end audio…

Glad you got there in the end sir… 👍
