Mike,

Have just taken a closer look at the vendor website.
Appears that single/dual view requirements are specified at product ordering :

Thanks for that Thumbs Up
I will be sorely tempted if a UK based company offers the complete turnkey service, ie, supply, fit and commission at a fixed price.
I am currently using Apple CarPlay on a add on unit ( Intellidash) and am a big fan , such an improvement, live traffic info, Waze, Apple maps etc.

Mike,

I believe installation is offered - "DIY installation is required, however fitting tools and detailed fitting instructions are included. You can also have it fitted by one of our trusted installers".

A possible concern as ever is installer proficiency in dismantling and reassembly of interior trim.
The term "trusted installers" I think implies a third party.
With the best will in the world, you never know quite what you're going to get.

As an example, my recent experience with a recommended installer for a different type of product, working thankfully on a lesser vehicle, eliminated any future possibility of a commission in respect of my FF....

Understand completely, what I would ideally like is someone with a reputation like Craig (Cam tech) to come along as an agent I could trust to work on my pride and joy, because sadly, I am too old to trust myself to take on the job., but would dearly love to have Apple CarPlay working on my original single view head unit.
Cheers

would you think many of our L322 owners here would be interested in a "group buy" ?
I would for sure "it needs some intelligence to undestand you may not have enough"

They are great kits from unique auto.... I have the Disco 4 kit. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and they do offer installation... they are based in Torquay iirrc.

I can install easily and would offer that if I lived closer....its a must have these days... especially with the new harsher laws for even touching a phone whilst driving.

I would too. I see there’s a topic for group buys but I don’t know what the protocol is for starting one.

A good idea. But I would draw attention to the need to specify vehicle Single/Dual View requirements at the time of ordering.
Unfamiliar with Group Buys, I would tend to assume that individual requirements might complicate the process and introduce potential risk of error, in ordering, fulfillment or final delivery.

Might it be safer to prevail upon the vendor to offer a forum discount code ? 2011 L322 TDV8 A/b Orkney Grey

HOOooo : "forum discount code" --> that'a jolly good Idea !

For Group buys, someone needs to approach the firm to ask if they would be willing to do a group purchase. It needs a lead person. Obviously you fit the bill to a tee. Very Happy

If they agree, you need to know how many units they would require for a discount. You need to negotiate as low a number as possible. Wink

Then you, or whoever takes the rôle, has to gather numbers of people interested. They need to commit by a deposit or you could have egg on your face. Once you reach the agreed number you can make the purchases.

The alternative is to ask for a forum discount which only involves anyone purchasing and, as with the sponsors on here, you have a discount code to give when purchasing. Much easier if you can achieve it.

I think the problem for either option is that, AFAIK, the company is not UK based.

Hope that helps John

I'm assuming we're still discussing the Unique Auto Developments product. If so, then they are based in Devon.

It might be that they are merely a store front for an offshore company. If this is the case, then as the UK representative one might reasonably expect that they would be empowered to make decisions on such matters.

I've just checked the website. I can confirm that that the 'basket' page includes provision for entry of 'coupon' details. For our purposes, this might support use of a forum discount code.

Worth bearing in mind that for a Group Buy, whomever assumes the administration role, takes on the task of managing monies. For this product we might expect the total sum to be fairly considerable. So not to be undertaken lightly.

And of course for this approach there are other considerations as we have discussed. 2011 L322 TDV8 A/b Orkney Grey

Thanks for the update Thumbs Up I would think, if they agree, that a discount (coupon) code would be by far the best way to go
As you indicate, Group buys can have serious drawbacks. John

I suggest someone with a fairly straightforward british accent would be best to make contact with the local seller.
I am Censored French,... with a strong american accent, all of which would play against me Laughing
so who wants to try and contact them ? "it needs some intelligence to undestand you may not have enough"

Ok - I will pick this up.
Please understand that I make no claims in respect of my negotiation skills.

Be aware also that Sam's videos reviewing the UAD product are in the public domain.
We should assume that conversations similar to ours may currently be in progress on other forums (yes, I am aware that there not really any other Range Rover forums). Similar requests from multiple sources may lead to a measure of "discount fatigue" on the part of the vendor.

Our approach ought really to have some measure of substance.
Thus it would be best were we able to claim a reasonable number of forum members having declared prior interest.

To that end I propose to start a companion thread on which interested members should do just this.
I will update the initial post as each new instance is added.

I would suggest that we ought to have minimum of perhaps ten posts registering interest ahead of our approach to the vendor.

What do we think ?

Finally, assuming a positive response from the vendor I imagine they would expect us to restrict access to the discount code to forum members by way of a password - in the Wiki perhaps ? Stan could you advise on this please ? 2011 L322 TDV8 A/b Orkney Grey
