My dealer told me that there were loads part built at the factory.

I also know BMW were doing this earlier in the year. They were building cars with modules missing which were held at the port of entry and then retrofitted before being transported to the dealer. Some cars were held for 2 or 3 months.

I guess it makes sense 5.0 - I suppose if it keeps the production lines moving, then that's what really matters.

I forget the exact numbers now, but when I went to Solihull in 2021, we were talking about production downtime and loss of revenue when that occurs, as you can imagine, if a line stops, the loss per day is in the millions of pounds!

£9k - YIKES, that's quite a leap. What model / options have you spec'd?

What's happening with others - Prices held at that of time of order, or price increase?

Also, is it just certain models that have gone up?

Two penny worth.
May be worth looking up (Topix) and seeing when the car was actually built. I’m assuming the date will be the main build. Not when the “”missing bit” was added.
That’s a strong argument for the contracted price. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I have heard this said before about cars having been built, but still awaiting certain parts and so they're incomplete and parked up at the factory.

While I don't know whether this is true or not.

I'm not saying that this or 5.0's information is incorrect, but I do wonder if these are cars waiting to be shipped, or awaiting parts such as door handles. Snip snip

I'm divided, part of me can't see a car being stripped down in a car park and parts added by JLR, not when everything is normally done in a clean covered environment, with precision equipment - Then another part of me thinks, if it keeps the production line moving, and makes a car 99.9% complete, then maybe!

My friend of a friend said he was looking out of his office at 1,000’s waiting for bits. 2-3 weeks ago.

My dealer said , last week, he thought 3,000 were due to be delivered imminently, as “bits “ had arrived

My idea of a bit could just be a of a nob for the radio, a petrol cap, or even the info screen, impossible to deliver without, but not a significant job to add. In my own mind, I doubt it would be a major bit of the engine. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. How can you get that info on TOPIX?
I'm on TOPIX now and all I can see is the VIN, the model, the MY and a small picture of the car... Proud owner of a P440e SE, Belgravia Green

To be fair, there used to be a lot more information available to see on TOPIX, but over recent years it has reduced significantly.

SE up-specced to my requirements rather than Land Rover’s. Lantau Bronze over Carraway.

Lovely combo Crocs - After going round and round in circles, in the end, i've decided to stay safe and go Black / Caraway.

I saw exactly the same colours you've gone for at my local dealers a few months ago (albeit LWB) - See below.
