My old Audi A6 (2001) and A4 Avant (2005) both had heated fan jets, as do most VAG cars since about 2001 I think. 2006 Mercedes CLS

But really finding it hard to fight the urge for a S/C...

I've read about several conversions using the e60 fan jets - none were good. Works fine at a standstill, apparently, but won't work at anything over 35mph. Some say you need a new pump, others say the e60 has the same problem ex-factory, all we know is it's called a royal PITA. Laughing

Thanks guys for all your help. I'll do this and report back with how good or not the spray is.

As you can see, the X5 jet is basically identicle, down to the heater plug. Can someone confirm that the X5 definately has the fan spray rather than jet?

This is the Range Rover jet:

This is the BMW Jet:

Yes, the X5 does indeed have the fan spray instead of a jet spray. All BMWs have them I think (might be wrong), as an old 525d had them as well!

Do the heated jets/wingmirrors come on of their own accord based on outside temperature?

It's fan spray as standard on the back...

The universal ones I bought are mist spray which is very cool - however I dont like the look of the things.

So will get some different ones Smile

I used these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...SA:GB:1123

I think they are a little too tall for my liking, however the BMW one just wouldn't fit. The mounting clip was wrong, however maybe with some fettling it would work.

These give more of a mist rather than a spray, which is actually very good and effective. For the money they are worth it I would say. I'll try and get a vid/pic of them in action for you.
