It's simple: just check the USB ports. First one doesn't have/can't be updated...

Sorry I’m sure that’s useful but I don’t understand how to interpret it! Graham

Obviously the red cross means no CarPlay/Android Auto...

Dumb question but who makes these retro units ? I want to look into one

I've just had it fitted to my 2014 RR vogue. Its only done 50 k miles and the only reason I would have changed was to get carpalty and be able to use google maps. To do that I'd have to spend another £70k on top of the trade in I'd been offered.

Mine was done 3 weeks ago by a company called Cheshire Auto based near where I live in Chester. They came t ofit it early one evening & it toook about 2 hours. I've got the split screen finction and the system retains all the original features. The only feature it doesnt have is the little sat nave dispaly on the main instrumnet cluster when using google maps.

I've just come back from a trip to Scotland then straight acrosds to ireland and the system performed faultlessly. Cost me £699 but in my opinion well worth it. Having google maps with live traffic data and rerouting options is far better than the original clunky sat nav that needs updating every few years

I assume you're cable free now and connectivity is Bluetooth only ??

Yes. Looking at the documentation it appears the hardware is supplied by Unique Developments. I tend to use the cable anyway as it maintains the phone battery. On a long trip the iPhone battery will soon empty when using Google maps & listening to music !
