Advice re a possible purchase

Hi All,

I hope this is allowed in this section -

I've been to see a very nice Corris Grey with cream leather, 4.4 AutoBiography on a 2015 plate (registered Dec 2015).
Its in good condition, all the extras including Rear Seat Entertainment, full sliding panno roof, auto Steps, soft close doors etc etc and has done 54,000 miles. The service print out only shows 2 services from main dealers but does have a few more invoices in between from non main agents and has been written on the service page so looks legit.

Its up for £39k at a car site (not LR specific) and they have offered me £8k (.... yes £8k... Shocked ) for my 2010 3.6 TDV8 with 144k miles on it so I'm guessing they have some margin to play with in their car.

Questions..

It has an issue with the front facing camera (but all the others work) and rather than fix it, they offered me £400 off to fix it myself - Views on this..?

It will come with 12 months AA waranty - Is the AA waratny really worth it..?

What are your thoughts please - anything else I should look for?

As always - Thanks folks.[/list] Ash

I had an issue with the front facing cameras on mine and was offered a discount instead of them being replaced.

I refused and told them the sale was conditional on them replacing the cameras, which they did, but at a cost of around £350 per camera plus fitting.

Bear in mind if/when you come to sell the car, the buyer will hold the lack of cameras against you.

As for the AA warranty, make sure it covers corrosion as i've just had an eye-watering bill to replace some corroded pipes. If it's built into the price then take it, if they're charging you for it, then read the T&C's.

Thx Mike

Will have to think about the camera (s?) then - When I go to the camera scrteen I just seen a red X on a camera icon but all the rest show up fine.

The 12 months warranty is in the price although I can up it to 3 years (for a cost) if I wish - Will check to see if it covers corrosion.

Cheers Ash

Yep, the cameras have failed.

While waiting for mine to be replaced i took them out in case it was a bad connection, but nope, they needed replacing.

Just to add to this - I have GAP IID BT for my 2010 L322.

I know i wont be able to do much by way of changes but will it allow me to read any error codes off the 2015 405 if i plug it in.?

Thanks Ash

As its the 2015 if you have not already read it you should search this title - Catastrophic failure of front knuckle due to corrosion - on here and have a read, it could save you a lot of money and worse if it has the problem.

a dec 2015 vin will be outside of the suggested vins that 'could' have this knuckle failure..

the iidtool will read and clear codes on a dec 2015 and will also configure a very few bits in the ccf. ... - .- -.

Thx Stan - good to know re the vin range and the corrosion issue.

Will have the IID with me (daft that I didnt check on Wednesday when I went to look at it) but will give me bargaining power if I do decide to go back for a second look. Ash

£39K is I think very steep even with the trade in price being offered. Prices appear to have gone down for big diesels over the past few weeks. If you know the reg number have you tried seeing what a Motorway/Cazoo/WBAC price would be? If not, suggest doing that then taking a view as to whether the package as a whole adds up. L405 4.4 AB Loire Blue

Thx Bmax,

It seems to be camparable with the others I've seen on Autotrader - I'm trying to get a low mileage as I can but really want to get as late a car as I can - they all seem to be just under the £40k mark. There are a couple cheaper but I don't like black interior.

I'll throw it in WBAC or similar but of the proces are dropping, would you suggest holding off for a bit.? Ash

If it’s a late ‘15 model make sure it is ULEz compliant at that price . Should have an AdBlu filler on the n/s inner wing .
Prices on the non compliant cars have dropped in the outer London area 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back
4.4 AdBlu Tractor - Stolen

Sorry Mr Wold - I missed your reply..

Thats a good question... can someone confirm there are two cameras.? Would it be likley that they both go bad or if one goes, do they both fall off the system as an error?

Thanks Ash
