Fuel efficiency

Often see questions about fuel efficiency

As I just had two trips, both quite different I thought I would post the result from the app

Diesel. 4.4L SDV8

1st in U.K. half the route restricted to 50 mph camera control

2nd TRIP hammering along in France as late & exceeded the 80mph speed limit maybe 100mph at times . Average doesn’t show that high a speed.
Covid lapse . Just remembered last 25 miles of the French trip was a diversion off the motorway hence the average speed dropped.

I have shown you mine, now show me yours!

Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

If you use an app like "Road Trip" it will be far more accurate because you input the figures yourself. The readout on the car is usually about 3-4 mpg optimistic!!

My car averages 32mpg across all types of journey (mostly short under 10 mile journeys), according to the car but the app shows an average of 29.8mpg. That's a D300MHEV. All LR cars from 1984

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black

This was my trip home from work on Friday, also a 4.4 SDV8:

M25 back up to the midlands with a little bit of traffic, seems the MPG is pretty consistent with your UK trip.

By contrast my Octavia VRS does 55mpg on the same route.. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
Previously George a 2007 MY07 Java Black VSE 3.6 TDV8

The computer in this car is the most optimistic of any I’ve had over the years, currently just over 6% difference to the actual mpg vs 0.8% on my wife’s Golf R. I do track every fill up….not (just! Laughing ) because I’m a geek!

It does seem to quite like the warmer weather, this was from last week and I had the aircon/cooled seats on plus the fridge running. Even with some healthy optimism, that’s 35mpg, which I think is pretty good. Although my 4.4V8 Petrol 750i would have been over 40mpg on the same journey. I’ve had a quick look back and it achieved 43.9 (true 42.3mpg) on the same journey with a 64mph average speed.

So a petrol V8 can be the way to go, but not in a Range Rover!

That's a V8 diesel presumably? Can't imagine the S/c getting anywhere near that! Graham

Drove like Stan this afternoon….although I bet it was a bit faster! I’m slightly annoyed that I sat in the car in the hotel carpark looking at emails and it dropped from 39.3! Laughing

Wales 2019 Range Rover SVAutobiography 5.0 SC V8 Loire Blue

This is a recent trip with my S/C 575bhp.
It does look dreadful compared to some of the mpg’s posted up, especially Stan’s figures.
