Anyone run an 4.2sc on LPG here?

Hi All,

I have a 4.2sc LPG available to me fitted with the prins systems

Have done a search on LPG for the RR 4.2sc and it seems to be ok if its been fitted correctly and by a reputable fitter.
I just want to make sure im not going into a known money pitt.

Anyone got any advise and experience of running one.

A pal of mine bought one with the Prins system, he's been very pleased but in the summer if he drives it hard it gets very hot... Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I have an lpg system in mine

some teething problems when first installed 2 years ago , no problems since

I have it set up to slipstream some petrol at >3500rpm and a valve saver system fitted as well.

if it hasn't got a valve saver system fitted I'd get a leakdown test done - in fact even it has, still gte a leak down test done before committing to buy

I should explain really; I didn't mean like a bank robber ! He tows a pretty heavy boat and heads down to Spain each year, both times he's done that run it has become very hot. A combination of a heavy load, outdoor temp and longer driving spells have likely contributed as a combination. He's selling it now anyway and making his way to the heavy oil division with a 4.4 tdv8 ! Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

LPG burns about 10 degrees hotter than petrol, but seeing as they both burn around 1000 degrees it doesn't make much difference, it certainly won't be the LPG's fault it runs hotter unless it's been poorly set up and is running lean but that would usually put the MIL light on...

The S/C will run fine on LPG, as with any install, get it looked at by an LPGA approved installer, preferably someone who comes recommended... The install is only as good as the person who set it up...

It will be a bargain superFF for sure.... Thumbs Up Pete

I've a bmw engined 4.4 V8 with a Prins system. Never had any problems at all in the 3+ years and 35k miles i've owned it. It came with a certificate of installation.

No personal experience with the 4.2 engine but have read that it has softer valve seats and should have a valve lube system installed with the LPG.

I run my SC on LPG no problems, the car was converted before i bought it and has now covered 40000 on log with no problems. I have the Romano system which works really well, is setup to introduce petrol at high rpm as well.

so was there a pre nickel engine that was less prone to valve damage? the guy I bought the car off said the LPG did feed some petrol in with the LPG I thought it was bogus so all good there if its a real thing. excellent.

anyone know a good LPG place to get a service northwest England Morecambe bay area or near? Very Happy
