Sorry if I'm being a bit dim here - anyone bought one of these from ebay without Paypal? I do not use PP, however the listing says they will only accept PP, but then at the top it also states they will accept Visa/MC, etc....

Can't see any reason not to use your card, the than perhaps Paypal's suppposed money back terms if something doesn't match/turn up.

I've just used a card when sellers say Paypal.

No harm in giving it a go, it can only refuse to take the payment. Cheers

Good point, rjff - just gave it a go and all seems good. There was payment option for Paypal and another for card.

The 4.4 TDV8's of 2010 onwards do very funky things with the charging, in order to maximise the fuel efficiency before the engine is fully warm (up to 20 mins of driving in my experience), so don't get too freaked out if you don't see "normal" charging during those first 20+ mins of driving, wait until the cars warm before checking the alternator output.

With a fresh battery, I see the cranking voltage reported by the app go down to 9.8v or so, with a brand new battery and having been charged on the CTek.

I had an inkling my batteries probably weren't at their best in my L405. The stop start very rarely worked and gremlins have started to appear with locking/unlocking. I plugged in my diagnostic and the standing voltage was only 12.04V. I checked the batteries and the date stamp on the terminal pins them at 6 years old which is the time when AGM batteries do tend to need looking at with a view to replacement.

I charged both batteries, the main peaked at 12.8V and the secondary at 13.6V suggesting the main is the 'main' one on its way out. Seeing its under the spare wheel I have fitted a BM2 battery monitor so that I can keep an eye on it. The good thing about this kit is the app. I can see the cranking voltage is also low. So, with the aid of the monitor I can keep an eye on the battery condition and will change it at some point ahead of the Winter. The monitoring will enable me to plan this change rather than just having a failed battery on my hands.

Because the batteries are tucked away in an L405 its probably makes more sense to use battery monitors in this model Range Rover than in the L322.

Its a neat bit of kit and only cost £22 of an eBay supplier.
