I've realised that if the airbag light is out my wipers work fine if that helps with diagnoses. |

If it were mine I'd be looking at the BECM next, a few posts on here of them failing, they start with so called unrelated faults and actions...

Hey Darryl, my 02 had similar problems so i fitted new battery with no good results…..put scanner on and found i have fault with interior lights, car doesn’t unlock from key fob, rain sensor not working, drivers seat heat doesn’t work (all other seats work), and other things not working i just can’t think of at the moment….scanner on and this all comes up with BCM under left seat is in transport Mode…..sound similar? |

It is pointing that way! Also my brake lights stay on whilst the air bag is half aluminated! Did replacement fix your problems? |

No, i did a scanner reset on the BCM and all functions are working correctly except the auto rain sensor which i’ll deal with another day.

So just in case someone in the future has something like this (hey its a RR so someones gonna need this!) I seem to of fixed the problem.....8 days clean!!, not sure which cured it but this is what I did, new battery did not make a difference this time, took off three earth points under the bonnet, cleaned and refitted, removed and cleaned all fuses under the bonnet, glove box and boot, removed all ebox internal connections clean replaced, removed plugs from BCM under passenger seat cleaned replaced, wd40'd the key ignition, all were clean with can electrical spray and battery disconnected.

That’s great news Darryl, how long or how many miles have you travelled without problems popping up?

There is a LR approved contact treatment - Nyogel, it works by having a high dielectric strength and a high viscosity which prevents moisture ingress and contact fretting. It's not particularly cheap but it does work very well. a company called Newgate Simms sell it in UK, ~£30 for a 25g tube. |
