Creack/Crack when turning steering wheel

Hi Folks,

My otherwise well behaved 2013 AB has developed a nasty continuous habit for the last 3 months of making a loud creak or crack sound when I turn the wheel at low and medium speeds. I guess its not as obvious at high speeds as the amount to turn then is much smaller. Its a sharp sound, but not grating or grinding.

Any suggestions before I trundle off down to the garage with it? I am in no way technically minded, so any advice that has words like 'track rod ends' in it may as well be in Swahili unless I can convince some of my more mechanically gifted friends to investigate your advice in return for fermented beverages.

Thanks in Advance!

Pete

It's "bébéchoon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.
20 years ownership of Solihull products, ALL GONE NOW, sniff!
Current motor: Suzuki S-Cross 4WD auto, 1.4 petrol. Oh so reliable! 7 years now and no problems. Oh, all right then, a leaking shocker replaced under guarantee.

Sorry, do you not all speak Swahili?

Haylands said it could be the wheel joint failing (I'm outside that Vin range, thankfully) or a track rod end.

My 2013 AB has developed the same issue.

It sounds like you need TSB LTB000906, where they replace the oil in the transfer box.

Mine goes in next Wednesday to the dealer. Big Cry

Mike
