I’ve noticed that following a run of over two miles the near side exhaust drips a small amount of what appears to be water. Nothing comes from the offside. Is this normal? Thanks

I just noticed the same from the nearside exhaust on my car too.

Looks like the exhaust gas is heating up the shield and once stopped the humid air is condensing on the shield.

Not sure why it's just the nearside though.

my BM has a valve in the back box that only open up when warm so will drip on one side more than the other. It is supposed to make the car a bit quieter on start up and cold emissions a touch better. First time FFRR owner

I'm told it's air con - it is water so it makes sense Geoff

I thought the air-con condensate came from the centre of the car, not the exhaust tip?

Thanks for replies. Each time I’ve noticed the drips I’ve been running the aircon…..maybe somebody can clarify? I’ll try it tomorrow without running the aircon and report back…..

Took vehicle for a 10 mile run with aircon off and no drips on return…..weather much colder today than it has been recently.

You get condensation build up in an exhaust as it warms up, on fattys the huge exhaust can produce enough for it to drip out the tailpipe, give it a rev and it will throw more out...

That's why low mileage cars that only do short trips need new exhausts so regularly, the water never gets the chance to dry out...

It goes as the exhaust warms up so your 10 mile run will have warmed it all up nicely especially in cooler weather as it's the difference in temp inside to outside that produces all the moisture...

Near the tailpipe is not a normal place for the air-conditioning to drip, that's up in front of the transfer box in the middle...  Pete

If you have the rear (auxiliary) climate control then the heat/cool/blower unit for this is fitted in the LH rear of the vehicle. So yes if you have this fitted then it is normal to have water dripping from that corner in warm/humid weather, and yes there is another drain somewhere under the vehicle for the main heater so expect two wet patches where the car has been parked.
