My insurer (First Central) specifies:-

The same thing happened to me, only realised after reading the documents, fortunately I noticed within the 14 day " change you mind" period.

I went through the same thing last year, it was worth switching to Direct Line despite the tracker installation costs. First year savings paid for the tracker, should be quids in from year 2, even with the subscription...
