how do you reset the airbag light? can you do it yourself?

Hi all, I changed all the door handles on my 2004 Vogue on sunday, which meant I had to take the front door cards off including the door airbags, now all back together again, and as I suspected the airbag light is on!!

Is there any way to turn this off myself?

Sorry If this has been covered before, if it has could someone post the link to the answer on this thread, cheers all.

Austin

You can't reset the air bag light yourslf AFAIK, this has to be done by the dealer - OR you can buy a tool like the Rover All Coms Software there are others that will do it like Hawkeye etc.

RAC has added benefits you may wish to look at, it cost the same as a couple of hours with the stealer though.

Yes it does work, but not for the SRS light.

You'll either need to go to a dealer or do as Dan says and buy a diagnostic system.

While I agree with you on many ECU resets, I have to object in the case of the airbags; as a matter of fact, a little more bad luck and you could have had one go off in your face as you were dis- or re-connecting. There are very specific service procedures with airbags, the battery must be disconnected and the system allowed to discharge completely before any plugs are removed and reattached. When done properly, the system registers no faults.

Download the RAVE and read up. Cars today are not like they were 20 yrs ago - especially the RR.

You own a Range Rover, the parts are expensive, the diag sw can be expensive and the dealers are expensive.

As for how much your dealer will charge, give them a bell and find out. If you have a good independand Land Rover specialist they may also be able to reset for you.

Personally the outlay of £180 is worth it for the benefit of never having to visit the dealer again...

I promise you I am too, I give a new meaning to running a Range Rover on a shoe string.

However, I do have the Rover All Comms software - if you want to save money in the long run it's a sensible outlay. It's all about being smart where you spend your $$

the most annoying thing ever is that i could of gotton away with not even disconecting the bloody things, but i didnt even think about warning lights, i was more concerned with getting it done before it lashed down with rain!! (which it didnt anyway Twisted Evil ) oh dear you live and learn, i'll call the stealers tomorrow and losen my belt ready to have my pants pulled down!! i'll update on what they say!!!!!

its so frustrating, as i the past i have been used to carrying out everything myself on previous cars, including fully working vr6, 20vt, and 16v engine conversions in my golfs, all completed very fast and everything has worked first time!! but light on a dashboard in a RR is a different story!! Laughing you've got to laugh!!
