Hi all I want to replace my rear subframe bushes,

I ordered a set which was supposed to be the landrover fitment made by Febi but when they were delivered they are the BMW X5 fitment.

I have seen people saying that the BMW X5 bushes can be fitted but when I compare the two they are different, the Landrover bushes center peice sticks up quite a bit further than the BMW style. This would leave a gap between the body of the car and the frame, the BMW style is almost flat so there would be no gap.

Has anyone fitted the BMW style ones and had any issues? I guess the landrover ones stick up for a reason.

The photos are of a fitted LR bush and the other pic is of the BMW bush. You can see the centers are different.

Which bushes have you used, BMW or the LR ones?

BMW. They are a bit shorter and the subframe has settled a bit leaving a small gap at the bottom of the bush. Christian.

I have looked at my bushes and the BMW fitment ones are only about 10mm different in height.

Also that picture doesn't show the rivets that hold the bush in, mine has two rivets to secure the bush in place. Christian.

Did you have to drill out the rivets??

I think mine has the rivets

I've just done the bushes on my 2007.

Due to the fact they're not a job I want to do twice and the fact the originals have lasted as long as they have I fitted genuine Land Rover bushes to mine.

Rob at Duckworths sorted them out and got them delivered to me without any fuss.

Is there a reason that people are fitting the BMW bushes if they're not the same size as the official LR ones?

The later cars must be different as there are no rivets holding the bushes in on the early cars. Land Rover also specify a lubricant that they supply to fit these bushes.

According to what I've read it's a lubricant that aids fitting and the workshop manual states to leave the car 24hrs after fitting for the lubricant to set.

Most online suppliers list the same bushes for the front and rear of the subframe when they're different which was one of the reasons I went for genuine.

The discount that forum members got from Duckworths made them not an awful lot more then the aftermarket ones from memory.

I'm not sure what the lubricant is. It's around £35 + VAT for a small bottle. I used it on mine and have enough left in it to do another 4 or 5 sets as you really don't need much of it. I used a paint brush to apply it to the bushes and within 48hrs all the bristles had fallen out of the paintbrush so it's not very nice, whatever it is.
