Just purchased my first L322, and here's my first post to celebrate!
Post Covid and a new job means I no longer do any miles, so it was time to sell the PCP Evoque and get my first full fat RR!
It's a 2010 (2011MY) 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE in Stornaway Grey, 130k miles on the clock!
Cosmetically in very good shape, the wheels could do with a refurb, and she has cheapo crappy tyres at the moment, but looks great. Inside, sand leather with black carpets, needed a really good clean (sweets, crisps and dried sticky fizzy drinks) but again generally very good.
Jobs so far:
Silicone spray the front seat belts to restore retraction.
New wiper blades all round, and remove, unseize, lube the rear wiper arm.
Remove the absolute jerry bandit tow bar installation wiring, and the tow hook. Patch up holes and protect the original wiring loom.
Take out and clean the intake manifold MAP sensor (it was completely blocked up), hopefully this has cleared the intermittent Restricted Performance message.
Give her a spin up and down the M40 for a EGR regeneration cycle.
Next job will be to fit replacement hedgehog (final stage blower resistor) to see if it cures random or no (depending upon its mood) interior heater blower.
Ordered an Airdual bluetooth to iPod converter...
New key remote case to replace the (only) one supplied that was falling apart.

Will then drive her for a while and see how she goes, power steering feels a little heavy, looking at the colour of the PAS fluid it's never been changed, so might attempt that in a few weeks.

Had one occasion when all the warnings came up on starting, and no speedometer; drove fine! Stop and start cleared this, will monitor, possibly an ABS sensor on the way out?

She feels lovely and taught on the road, and bloody hell it's quick! Amazing for a 2.5t car. Very comfortable and quiet.

Add a complete fluid change to your list (both gearboxes, diffs, PAS etc). Personally, I'd go for a Megaflush. Use Ian Bodsworth and he'll do the lot on your drive.
Tyres = I've just gone General Grabber AT3 in 255 55 20. Nice price and look good. Get it 4 wheel aligned using Tight Tolerance Mode.

Welcome on board. I've just bought my first L322. Had it 7 weeks now. Love it! Few small issues here and there but nothing major other than needing an alignment and then we found a cracked inlet manifold. All part of the fun! Good luck and keep us up to date with the project. I second everything DrRob has said too. Prevention is far better than cure on these. Current vehicles:

I got my hedgehog from Amazon for £24, it's a BEHR Hella one which is a decent brand so hopefully it's ok, I found it by searching for the BMW part number 64 11 6 923 204 rather than the LR part number JGO000021, I'm told they are exactly the same but truth will come out when I fit it at the weekend! The Hella part no is 5HL 351 321-511.

DrRob, do you find the Grabber ATs add a load of road noise, did you consider the Grabber GT Plus? I have a good local tyre dealer, I'll ask them if they can do a tight tolerance mode alignment - I can see from the (totally illegal) spare tyre that there has been some seriously uneven wear in the past.

First major conclusion I've come to is that I need to save up for an IID tool!

Also realised yesterday that my window tint is in fact an aftermarket add on which explains why there is slight bubbling on the rear window, and various scratches on the passenger windows, also it's way too dark, vision via the rear view mirror somewhat compromised. Various videos on Youtube as to how to remove it without damaging the heater and aerial elements somewhat scary, I think I'll leave it for now!

Also had a look at Advanced Factors - great site and prices look keen, thanks for the heads up.

LOL - I didn't even take my new LRs to the main dealers, my local ones are very good at selling, not very good at maintaining; only considered viable for warranty work and they even manage to consistently screw that up. Normal result is that my cars came back with more things wrong with them then when they went in. Very good at obsequiously calling me sir and having a fancy coffee machine, not very good at fixing LRs. On my Disco Sport it had a new EGR under warranty, and when it came back there was significant exhaust gas coming into the cabin; after 3 visits they improved the situation but it was never right, sold it back to them in the end

after having a v8 petrol for about 9 years, she died, so i got he 4.4 tdv8... what an amazing car. and mine has 200,000 on it. (with full dealer history) drives spot on, no real issues to worry about... but... my old model suffered from rusting rear arches, and the 2012 one i have now, is starting to rust a tiny bit. make sure yours is addressed, or at least checked.... the area behind the rear doors, where the plastic sill cover meets, and the splash area from back wheel, that the door edge covers.
over than that, enjoy one of Land Rover's finest models!
the IID tool is very comprehensive, and covers literally everything. i got mine secondhand on here, for about £350.

IID is a must.
I removed my sill covers, cleaned, painted and waxed the sills inside and out.

They've looked after all the Land Rovers I've owned down the years... my old 5.0SC L322 had it's own parking space in their yard!

These cars get under your skin though, so much so that in spite of the litany of issues I had with my Supercharged, the only thing that was ever going to replace it was another Full Fat and they'll be the one-stop-shop for the L405 too... nothing but good things to say about them!

Hope you enjoy the best bits of the Full Fat experience... and aren't too put off by the downsides... then again, you seem well versed in the Green Oval - so I'm sure nothing will be a surprise! Andrew.
