L322 MY 2003 , BCM exchange mileage and battery drain

Hi RR Peeps.
I have an MY2003 L322 which has been bugged with electrical issues, especially battery drain. I believe I have narrowed it down to the BCM. I bought a second hand one, which indeed demonstrated that was the case. However I have now been dissuaded from changing permanently with tales of mileage being stored in the BCM. Such there is a locked set of kit in the vehicle, Instrument panel, BCM and ignition keys?. you can drive a couple thousand miles, and then it drops into transport mode, Mileage is compared between Instruments and BCM, and it will display the higher mileage. turns into a toaster etc etc. I don't know whether this is age specific. thing?. I contacted RSW and he suggested that the mileage isn't stored in the BCM, BBSpy suggested it is..... Anyone have specific knowledge or experience.
Also does anyone know what the sleep mode battery drain should be..... ie resting up for a couple of days, what should the drain on the battery be in mAmps.? Currently I'm seeing approx 50mA with a ammeter connected in series with the negative lead on the battery.
