Coolant confusion!!

I'm sorry if this has already been covered, but the coolant level in my L322 is below both of the "Cold Fill" lines, so I'm guessing it needs topping up.

My L322 is a 2007MY, with the later 4.4 Jaguar V8 Petrol engine and 6 speed box. The manual tells me I need Havoline XLC to
WSS-M97B44 (Texaco XLC) whatever that means.

I feel almost 100% certain that the last time Halford's told me to buy this OAT Ready Mixed - See link below:

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-o...30840.html

Now it's suggesting these two options:

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-o...00407.html

Or this

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-o...00399.html

I prefer ready mixed if possible.

Does anyone know if this has changed from the OAT version as a recommended product, or am I just losing my marbles and the later two recommendations are correct?

Many thanks in advance.

The colour of what's already there is Pink, I did read that you shouldn't mix different types.

Thanks Oggy - Is it OK to mix with the pink though - I did read that mixing colours could lead to a gel like substance developing in the tank

well i have seen that stated on the site about mixing . i think what i would do is bite the bullet and drop all old out because do you know when it was last changed . i expect it could do with a change any way and buy 8 ltrs of the write stuff as we have spoke about the havoline xlc i think it is 14 ltrs so half that 7 ltrs and one to keep for top up so get 8 check hand book for total coolant when drained could be less new vehicle purchase

For what it's going to cost Oggy, I think that's probably good advice....... I'll look to empty and replenish with the right stuff after my trip later this week. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

It's 50/50 pink/red stuff with de-ionised water.

The system needs nearly 10L anyway so, buy 1x 5L de-ionised and 1x 5L pink, pour out half the de-ionised into a jug / bucket/ empty container (use the kitchen scales if necessary). The other half won't thank you if you use the glycol coolant to do the measuring!!!!

Fill the half empty de-ionised with the pink stuff and fill the now half empty coolant container with the 2.5L of de-ionised you decanted earlier.

Hey presto, you have 10L of exactly 50/50 mix. Doesn't matter which you buy - they're all made to the same international specification. Should cost about £20-25 for 10 litres in total from somewhere like Eurocarparts. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Yes change it would be optimum... Should be changed every two years or so... Environmental laws mean its made to degrade VERY quickly now (in case it spills into a watercourse in an accident)...

Only the early BMW engined cars took blue antifreeze... Everything since is pink Thumbs Up
