Insurance for L460

My current FFRR is up for renewal 28/04 - I’m with Direct Line - just checked whether they will insure my L460 if it arrives in the next policy year - they can’t confirm as it’s not “on the list “ !!

Anyone managed to insure an L460 - be good to use a company that will allow me to move my cover as and when I get my new boy ?

I used to be with aviva however they are now not taking on new cars valued over £100000 and I’m also struggling as the old models reputation for being stolen is not helping………

I have swapped to Aviva for the L322 as they gave me a very reasonable quote for the L460 obviously no guarantee it stays at that level if the period before mine arrives coincides with lots of them being stolen - I’m hoping JLR have improved the security

They are adamant that they will not insure cars over £100,000 unless an existing car, the online quote will work without reg number as soon as you enter one it then asks you to call them at which point they say NO!!!!

I’m with Direct Line and they have been good on a couple of claims so would like to remain but fear they won’t insure the new RR. However, I’ve just found their ‘select’ policy for ‘high net worth’ individuals. Given I already use them for several cars, house and travel insurance this may be an option:

I got in a pickle with admiral refusing to insure a car even though I had two cars and my home Insured with them. I then spoke to a very helpful adviser who suggested another service they offer to combine all insurance policies into one. They insured the new car under this no problem and I ended up with better cover for all cars and the home and the total policy was almost half what I was paying separate.

Strange world insurance. MY23 PHEV HSE
MY19 Disco 5 HSE - gone
My16 Disco 4 HSE LUXURY - gone
My12 Disco 4 HSE - gone
MY05 Disco 3 S - gone but not forgotten

If Direct Line think high net worth is a property worth over £500k, I suspect almost every home owner on this forum would qualify! But it's an interesting option. I am back with Direct Line after a few years away. I have always found them fantastic to deal with, including when claiming.

I got the Secure Tracker Pro on my current car but insurers don't seem particularly interested in that, more following a binary tracker Yes/No type of approach. Still, I will continue to get this upgrade on my L460 (not sure when that will be....) L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Doesn’t the Secure Tracker Pro come as standard? I think the upgrade is just to pay the 2nd and 3rd year’s subscription in advance. Or have I got that wrong?

I struggle with my house so this may be useful next time…. Thanks Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I will have a look at that as well as house insurance is ridiculously expensive for me more that 10 times what I pay for the cars

I did move to Admiral based around a real quote for a £107k spec L460

It’s possible they will pull all cover for the L460 And if they do I just will need to move insurer - it’s no big deal - the way things are it could be next policy year by the time I get a vehicle delivered (ie late April 2023) which would be some delay with a Dec 2021 order placed. Ah well down with symptomatic Covid - day 5 - the FFRR is the least of my concerns though a good distraction to dip into this forum to hear peoples experiences

Since mine has arrived at the dealers I checked with the DirectLine and their Select product to see if they would cover the new RR (DL currently insure my L405). The answer was only if the RR had additional tracker/immobiliser with a separate fob and it was kept in the garage overnight. Even though I live rurally in a relatively safe area they wouldn't cover it on my drive.

I'm going to try NFU next. Any other suggestions? MY23 D350 HSE

I'm with Admiral at £480 but I recall seeing someone with Admiral at a cheaper rate.

Went on the comparison sites and the premiums were very high compared to my old I-Pace. NFU were comparable.

My wife's E-Pace was insured with Admiral and adding the RR on as a multi car, the price to do so was excellent compared to stand alone insurance (probably half the price). If stand alone premiums seem high, might be worth looking at a quote to move any other household cars to Admiral for a multi-car policy

Thanks. That's just what I'm thinking as both my car policies and my home policy come up for renewal at the same time in a few weeks time. MY23 D350 HSE
