Got around to removing the shredded belt the big belt is totaly shredded the small one looks to have just snapped and I’m assuming this then took the big one with it, when I bought the car it had its oil cooler replaced under waranty and I asked them to change the tensioner and belt as it was almost 9 years old they replaced the big belt but not the small one which was date stamped 2012 has anyone else had the small belt just snap like this taking the big one with it, I’ve checked all the pulleys and they spin freely with no noise or side to side play, the only one that is harder to spin is the AC it spins but not as easy as the others

The pivot in the tensioner for the rear belt is prone to wearing which causes the belt to run forwards on its pulley eventually running off the pulley. Non-genuine tensioners are known to be sloppy which causes the belt to tend to run off the front. |

It had a genuine tensioner and main belt 13 months ago, I’m assuming the small belt snapped and got under the rear belt taking it with it, not sure weather to go to my stealers for full genuine or advanced factors or Duckworth’s for the parts 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

The small belt is meant to be cut to gain access to the longer one but they can be levered off so may have been damaged. |

I always change the serpentine belt on buying a car, and keep the outgoing one in the boot, for the AA man to change if it ever does the worst! I changed my 4.4 one simply. It’s best to have pictures of the route it takes to hand as a guide. |
