Dan, with the current part supply issues, they may treat it as a constructive Total loss ( Cat N salvage category).

Just stipulate that you wish to retain the vehicle if it deemed beyond economical repair. It will need stripping fully though to find all the wiring issues.
You never know, you could be lucky & it's only a local wiring issue Thumbs Up

If that happened and were an option I’d hopefully borrow a friends barn and do it over a few months as and when Current stable:

Nightmare!

Ok so is this likely to be related? I’m thinking it could be related to the wiring or control
Unit as they have hall sensors. But ever since I’ve
Opened the passenger door since the incident the step only goes up about an inch when the door is closed. I’ve taken the step off and greased the mechanism and tried it with the step off still and it behaves the same . I will mention this to the insurance too I think unless anyone else thinks it couldn’t possible be related? Current stable:

really sorry to read this, I know it's to late, but I have this mouse etc. repellent thingie in one of the sockets of my garage with classic cars. It seems to make a noice insects and mice, etc. hate. Until now it seems to help. Might be something to think of .... wish you strength with the reparations

Long time no update… I put poison in and the poison went (this was a while ago) replaced said poison and it has remained so hopefully that’s resolved.

I’m the meantime the insurance company have written in off!

I have bought it back at a whopping 33% market value with its new cat n title.

It seems unusually high but apparently that’s the going rate as the price for scrap is high…

Anyway…

The damage has been photographed so of and when i come to sell it I can actually prove the below and I’m not talking out my ass and it’s really been rolled or something.

So over the last few weeks the interior has come out, most the dash is out and the carpets are out!

the summary of the identified damage is:

Drivers seat had 4 wires chewed through. These have been soldered and adhesive heatshrinked.

Both carpets chewed through - sourced replacements I’m collecting this week.

The whole Center console wiring is mullered - after spending half an hour soldering it and sulking I realised it wasn’t on the main loom and ran off a connector - yay - new one ordered!

There are 6 small gauge wires where the main harness runs through the bulkhead gnawed through. One of these has been eaten through in two places so I need to solder a new piece of wire in - annoyingly it’s a canbus wire so I need to make sure I get the length and wire right - that’s why when the new harness arrives I will use the canbus wire from there and repair.

A good gnaw on the fuse box - used one acquired.

And hopefully that will be it… I’m sure it won’t be but I really hope for wiring it is fingers crossed.

On a side note I have the interior in the house and I have put a new cushion in at nearly £350 for the pleasure! But man it looks like new now! Also given it all a deep clean with a toothbrush!

I’ve also got a new shark fin for the roof as mine is dead annoyingly I can’t fit that until I have power so I can open sunroof to drop lining.

Wish me luck Current stable:

You can fit a new shark fin without dropping the lining. It an be eased at the back to give enough room. I have done it. I believe others on here have also done so.

Just be careful not to pull it down too hard. John

Little update today

Didn’t get the carpet in as I’ve adopted the do as much as you can while enjoying it philosophy so I spent about 3 hours with the hoover hoovering all the sand etc up for prior to carpet laying and with some water and fairy liquid wiping the whole floor down to get rid of any nasty scents of there were any and to clean them.
In the loom trays and the looks themselves they were black with mud that had got through over the years and sand they now look good like this thanks to fairy and elbow grease Smile

I will do a bit more tomorrow evening after work

That’s some work and dedication!

I bet you’ll have some feeling of satisfaction when you get that all back together with everything working.
