Anyone used the timing chain kit from Bearmach for the 5.0?

Hey gents,

Just picked up a 2010 FFRRSC Autobiography in Galway Green to add to my fleet and was gearing up to replace the timing chains, guides, tensioners and variators (they aren’t making noise but at 137K I figure it’s good preventative maintenance) and was wondering if anyone has used the kit that Bearmach have? It’s part # BR4265 and is vastly cheaper than other kits I’ve seen (granted no gaskets, etc.. with this kit but I’ll piecemeal all that). Only troubling thing is that it shows the country of origin as China and if that’s truly the case, I’ll look elsewhere but am curious if anyone has used this kit with success, perhaps just as anecdotal evidence if nothing else. Thanks in advance!! Cheers,

Aaron

Due to the amount of hard work and effort I would only go main dealer parts .

I would second that. I think I'd only be looking at a main dealer part for such a critical component - if you search around on the site, you may be able to find who makes them and just order the OEM kit.

Land Rover make very few parts so, you may be able to find this. The one which sticks in my mind was when I needed a new rear brake caliper. They're made by TRW and is exactly the same part. Iirc Land Rover wanted over £400 for one - I picked one up for £110. Exactly the same part.

I don't know much about the 5.0 S/C but are the timing chains known for failing? Most timing chains last the life of the engine. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Thanks guys, yeah, I wouldn’t dare use that kit if it’s in fact Chinese made, but I was figuring feedback would be interesting. And indeed the 5.0 V8 is known for chain problems (well, problems with the tensioners and guides too). I normally wouldn’t have gone for one but I already have a Galway Green ‘09 HSE 4.4 Petrol and finding this AB in the same colour was also like hen’s teeth so had to go for it Shocked Cheers,

Aaron
