Sorry, should of noted about the engine and box

Gear change was super smooth, genuinely couldn’t feel it change. Tried on the paddles too as that’s how I often drive (when towing especially) crisp sharp changes (personally can’t fault the 405 on that) but it is a smoother change than the 405. Again I don’t think they could of done better. Sorry I didn’t check the amount of gears, I got to 8 and forgot.

Engine is super smooth and quiet but gives a satisfying straight 6 hum when pushed hard. My initial thoughts were hmm is this underpowered? (my view on the 4.4 and 3.0 of the 405 is: off the mark and low speed grunt under 60mph is noticeable when driving the 4.4 but above 60 you don’t notice a huge huge difference, always felt the 3.0 405 was good enough) I drive a 4.4 as it’s what came up at the time. Back to the D350, I think I just caught it off guard. Once I pushed on in it, I’d say real world pace it’s as fast if not faster than the 4.4, it may not feel like it as it’s a smoother delivery, but it is faster. Personally find it more refined in terms of cabin vibrations under load and noise than the 4.4 which is a good thing.

I also have a D350 on order so can’t comment on Phevs but yes the D350 is more than enough for this car for daily duties, towing, and getting a bit of a shift on.

Ooooooooooo. I had come to the conclusion I don’t want to spend £125k………. Ooooooooo I might change my mind, Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I’m back and called the dealership today. Cars are still embargoed until JLR give the thumbs up to hand over cars to customers. So my car has now had its PDI and is just ready and waiting for JLR to determine customers can have their cars.

992 went today too so hopefully the wait won’t be too long.

First one was delivered to the customer on Friday. I know of him and saw his car in Newquay on Friday evening 🤷🏻‍♂️ 19 L405 4.4 AB + Disco3 pick up + 800BHP Rothmans 911

This just doesn’t make sense to me - one person driving their new car, another being told there is a JLR embargo, but car is ready……press embargo is still not lifted. Dealers not having a clue.

This is probably one of the worst handling of a car launch I have ever known- and has feck all to do with Covid, Ukraine or Brexit - it’s all a bit of a farce 😂😂

Having bought other cars recently its not that dissimilar to other manufacturers. It is incredibly frustrating to the customers and makes no logical sense as to order of events. VAG on their EV side are a total state from my experience to the point they supplied cars to customers with missing features and known problems.

The first round of press reviews always wind me up anyway as they are so well managed by the manufacturer. Many just regurgitate the press pack spiel it becomes very repetitive and definitely not impartial. MY23 PHEV HSE

At this stage I have no idea what’s going on. I’ve been asking since Thursday for a picture of the car but that too seems like too much trouble.

Lack of press reviews seems strange now cars are with customers - I wonder if it’s down to lack of First Editions (although I’m not clear what the problem is there, either).

That is really not acceptable- buying a Range Rover should be an enjoyable experience, we don’t need these things - they are a luxury. The lack of communication is not on - someone knows what is happening and why 😂😂

Allegedly it is indeed down to the lack of First Editions, albeit I understand some have now been built.

I’m new to this forum, and so firstly it would be remiss of me not to thank everyone for all the amazing insights. I’ve had a L460 deposit in since last June and the wait is now getting painful, especially as I drove a demonstrator today.

Demo was a D350 HSE in what I would describe as “dictator specification”. Pleased it was a d350 as my order is a d350 autobiography. The family car is a discovery 5 d300 HSE luxury and having never driven a FFRR didn’t really know what expect. What I can say is the comfort levels are like “witchcraft”. It wafts sublimely, but importantly it corners almost with no roll and so the mass is pretty well disguised. Noise levels are ludicrously low, the noise cancelling makes the car so relaxing…actually the music system as a result sounds extraordinary crisp. D350 engine only had 30 miles on it so it was tight, but vibration and noise levels just a slight background presence….not a hint of diesel and beautifully smooth.

Recognise any “review” from me as a FFRR newbie has to be taken with a pinch of salt as I cannot compare this to the L405, but I’m genuinely excited by the prospect of ownership

All the best

That’s really interesting to hear. My car is the D350 HSE and I’ve finally had confirmation that handover will be Tuesday next week. I can not wait.

I defy anyone not to be in awe of it. It is such an accomplished feat of engineering. I haven’t driven or even considered the “Uber” SUV’s like Cullinan, DBX or Bentayga, but i suspect this is the most luxurious real world car…ahem at north of 100k, so that last statements (real world) sounds a little silly in retrospect
