Phone problems

Hi all, I bought a new iPhone SE (had the old SE before) I can not get the car to show the phone book or use any controls?
The phone shows on the screen only recognising recent calls when pressed nothing is showing. Incoming or outgoing calls are not working?
Any suggestions?
