Can anyone help with a suggestion for a good trolley jack and axle stands please? I would rather have a recommendation than buy stuff that turns out to be poor quality or unreliable.

I too had the same dilemma as you when I bought the RR, I ended up buying an SGS 3tonne trolley jack and Two ratchet axle stands (for safety), from there website, after taking advice and chatting to them about my needs.
So far I've changed brakes, suspension, oil change, as well as other random jobs underneath, and so far have had any issues with either. I would recommend them, but that's just my opinion.

Bought them several years ago and they’re excellent. Have safely worked on the L322 and the L405 being supported by them.

I went for SGS as well, They we’re doing a 3t jack and 6t axle stand combo when I got mine - I know 6t is a lot but I feel safer under it with the 2:1 safety factor.

The thing that amazed me was that the worlds second heaviest package arrived so quick.

Certainly the SGS one is looking the most likely. Although out of stock. The Sealey 3T is very expensive likewise the better of the Halfords offerings. I wasn't aware there was such a wide choice.

If you have access to Costco they have a good 3t jack - I've had one for about 5 years now and it is excellent. I have a selection (about 6 sets) of axle stands. The Halfords ratchet ones are decent as are a set I got from Costco at the same time I got the jack. I've got an SGS engine hoist which is good, no knowledge of their jacks/axle stands but I expect they would also be good

As previously mentioned, really wanted the SGS - based on research - but it wasn’t available and couldn’t wait for it to come in stock. Thought £148 for the low profile Sealey 3T Jack was excellent vfm given it’s name; and it was ordered and received within a day or so; and that it’s a superb, substantial piece of kit capable of lifting the RR/ other vehicles really quite high indeed…

If you’re not too troubled by the warranty etc, you could try Facebook marketplace, eBay, Gumtree, Shpock etc to see if there are any SGS being by sold second hand near you…

What's the minimum lifting height required for these trolley jacks? I've got a 2 tonne job that I've had for over 20 years and it is not man enough for the task. I've used the supplied scissor jack in combination with axle stands ( 3 tonne Halfords) but I am not happy at times. Previous cars:

Would a lift height of 450mm suffice or would it be best to get a jack capable of lifting over 500mm? Previous cars:

I went for a SGS high lift. Very sturdy and versatile. Went for a package with the stands included however they are ordinary rather than ratchet. On the whole I have been very happy and have tackled many jobs with them. However in hindsight think the ratchet ones would be better.
(Think the lift is about 530mm max)
