As above, the TD6 has been parked for a couple of months (didn’t know it was going to be that long) and now, after a new battery, it won’t actually drive forward or back, even with the handbrake off. It squats slightly, creaks loads then nothing.

Is it a simple case of keep trying? Or could I damage something? (Worried about the flimsy gearbox on these)

It’s parked one side tight against a house, so at present I couldn’t even get to one side to manually free anything up

Try gently driving back and forth, it my free off. Don’t worry about the creaking.

You could try banging the rear drum to try and shock the shoes away from the drum.

Maybe a hammer on the wheel nuts?

Just make sure you don't damage anything.

Not sure what the set up is for the handbrake is it a handle with cables ? if so then try putting it in gear with the footbrake applied 1500 to 2000 revs then release footbrake do a few times forwards and reverse it worked for my p38 which had a similar problem also if it is cables on handle if you can get underneath spray the cable carriers with wd good luck

Cheers guys, free'd her up eventually with the forward/reverse technique, just didnt like the creaking but all good now.

dhallworth - I've got a confession, its never been in low range since I've owned it (12 years), was told if its not been in low range for a while it could be more hassle than its worth, and if you are going to try low range to do it at home on the driveway just in case. So i havent been brave enough (or needed it to be honest)

Glad you are sorted I cycle mine every week into low range same with the handbrake once a week also all the heater controls
