United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Java Black
My New L322 2008 TDV8 Vogue

After many years lurking on this forum I have finally purchased a 2008 Java Black 3.6 TDV8.

She has done a few miles but feels really nice so far. Purchased mainly as a dog/sprog and sport/activity wagon.

Few little niggles which I am sure are all just part of the fun!

Java Black with Jet black interior which is all in good shape given it is 14 years old and done 147k!

Driven about 200 miles mix of motorway/local lanes and lugging stuff about. Initial observations are its flipping huge but so smooth!

Niggles so far:

Rear wash doesn't work. Pump goes, wiper works just no water.
LCD info screen on the dash seems to have a mind of its own. Works perfectly 75% of the time but occasionally a bong sounds and it turns off the main info.
Slight hesitation a couple of times on acceleration noted.
Bit of a wheel wobble at 70ish so will replace all the drop links/bushings to refresh it.
Rear lights have the usual condensation, front fogs are milky.
Drivers seat base is a bit saggy. I will prob do the leather on both fronts at some point as well.
Has running boards, not sure if they are OEM or aftermarket but they are rusty so need to go! Also not sure I am taken with them as it makes it look frumpy to my eyes.
Continuing the frumpy theme its got the orig 19 vogue alloys with Grabbers on which are perfectly good but just a touch too agricultural looking. Ill keep these for winter and get some 20's.On the look out for the L405 style 5s as they seem to look good.

She sounds ok, a few photos wouldn’t go amiss!😜
A few of your niggles seem ‘run of the mill’ RR issues, easily fixed so I wouldn’t loose any sleep over them.

Was struggling to use the upload yesterday!

Anyway a few shots of the old girl here and a moody action shot at a storage lock up. Tumble dryer looked lost in the back!

That’s a nice looking car Smile

Your rear window washer is probably 1 of 2 things… either the 1 way valve in the pipe work is knackered or your motor is blocked where the washer fluid runs through it. If you take the trim panel off the top of the tailgate you’ll be able to see what’s going on.

Disconnect the pipe from the one way valve and give it a scoosh and see what happens. If it has failed, replace it. Leaving it out means the fluid takes an age to reach the rear window.

Had a bit of a nose around under the panel to see what was going on. Some one has been there before because the clips are all a bit mangled. however the pump/area surrounding it is dry, no water etc in there and the pump housing looks quite new.

Will first try the one way valve when I can gather the enthusiasm!

Also I now know why the rear camera isn’t working as the lead has become brittle/aged and detached from its little metal housing/connector. So a new camera on the list at some stage!

Does anyone know what size socket I should be using to get these skirts off?

Had a nose about and threw a lot of wd40 at them but didn’t have my socket set to hand to check.

The rear screen washer on mine kept blocking until I bought one of these plastic syringe and flushed out the pipes with hot water.. If you disconnect the pipe at the one way valve you can force hot water both ways until it is flowing freely, either sucking fluid from the tank or through to the nozzle.

Drivers headlight bulb went. Fitted a new pair of osrams and still was out. Panicked a little, did some digging about on here then ordered a new ballast!

Old one seemed to have corroded on the contact points as was white and furry.

Ten minute job to fit the new one last evening and job done! Light fixed.

Nice. Pretty much the same as my first one. they are cracking cars, looking at the top turbo hoses in there they look quite original so might be worth a quick bit of preventative by swapping the top 2 hoses. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I’d hope not, given it’s done 150k. I’ll dig out the receipts as it had a full turbo/egr replace two years ago with a pretty mental bill. But since it looks like an easy job I’ll do it anyway as I gather from here they are basically consumable items. Cheers

Transmission and gearbox fluid flushed. Runs very smoothly now!

Gave the old bus a wash!

Next up fog lights. And wheels.. although they look quite nice here in an old duchess kind of way!
