FF makes me unpopular at Tesco click and collect - beware!

I thought these things don't lock themselves when the smart key is inside - wrong!

So there I am this morning at the front of the click and collect queue with the ignition off. Left the key in the centre cup holder, got out, closed door opened tailgate and loaded shopping. Closed tailgate and thats it - all completely locked. My phone was also inside along with a boot full of food!

Nice chap who pushes the shopping out of the store gave me a phone. SWMBO brought the spare key and all good apart from the growling from a few of the uneducated behind me. The Tesco chap did say it happens 'all the time'. At least there are two lanes for customers.

So, with me thinking this should not have happened I decided (for the first time in my life) to RTFM. Well to my surprise there is a caveat which says locking may occur due to localised RF interference - then it struck me. All three Tesco chappies had walkie talkies going mad - no wonder it 'happens all the time'!

Beware. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Does your car autolock when you get out? If I get out of mine and leave it unlocked it stays that way until I manually lock it. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

The car only auto-locks if you haven't opened a door within a set time. what happened to ajac was outside frequency interference.

Cheers

The car has never auto locked before (except correctly when having not opened a doors etc). I can only point to RF interference but it does show how fragile this stuff can be.

I now leave the keys on my person and use the door handle sensors to open and lock.

Didn't know that had happened in your family too Mike - hospitals probably have so much RF going on. I can't imagine what that must have been like with a new born locked in the car. (six years ago now - how time flies!) 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

You could install the remote app on your missus' phone and login for her; then she could unlock it for you remotely if it were to happen again.
