Mine had the symptoms you describe. Turned out it was the nav unit on the way out. John

id go for corrosion in one of the units down the back , broke open my harmon amp a few mins ago to find out it was full of corrosion inside , cheap ass sh** |

inside the unit pal , also had this in other makes of car equipped with harmon kardon , its total garbage quality wise |

Have you ejected the DVD & had alook at the back of it?. If it's heavily scratched, then the units on it's way out.
