Not sure if this is worded correctly as no expert on minimum Euro emissions standards. Here goes:

As we know, used values of most quality cars - including all L405 RR - are currently strong/ high.

If you own or were looking to buy a September 2015 onwards Euro 6 compliant L405 diesel (3.0 or 4.4) or 5.0 petrol, then over the next 3 years, which of these 3 variants would you anticipate will hold its value better?

Not taking about the 2018MY onwards here;and
Aware of the 2017MY year infotainment upgrade; and
Aware of how to adjust values based on specs of Autobiography, VSE, Vogue, general options and history/ condition

You can go back a little from Sept 2015 there are some June/July EURO6 4.4’a for sure 👍

In 1/2 I’d say the 5.0 while peoples mileage is low, but as we return to some kind of normal I think the 4.4?

So far (out of 10 votes = 3 for the 3.0 and 7 for the 4.4) 70% think that in respect of pre 2018 MY L405s, the 4.4 will hold its value best long term when compared with the 3.0 diesel and the 5.0 petrol.

Would expect a majority of people on here to be more partisan to the 4.4 because it’s obviously the one that most L405 RR owners on here seem to have…. Wonder if that pans out

I voted 3 diesel as the costs of motoring are on the up. I expect more and more info to come out about diesel, not being quite so bad as some thought after dieselgate.

My strap line is tedious, but today from the same people, emmissions analytical , they came out with this stunning news.

A modest EV & indeed the bus is more harmful to you in your thumping great big FFRR as the air filters to the EV cabin are bad and a bus is full of second hand air! They tested with all the modern gizmo’s


E A also said the other day the difference in particles from a modern petrol and a diesel are minimal.

The new diesel FFRR is euro 7 compliant.

I would still buy the 350 today, or the 4,4 if they did one. Residual value is secondary to my perceived enjoyment all be it at a higher cost. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Really interested to see that so far, on this poll, the 5.0 petrol is voted for as being likely to hold its value better than the 3.0 diesel. Not averse to having a 5.0 but surprised to see it leading over the 3.0 on the poll.

Perceptions might include that in the face of rocketing fuel prices, diesel ‘goes further’. Any such perceptions could be damaging to re-sale values of the 5.0 RR variants?

We might all get a shock at the back end of the year. When Diesel reaches £2.50-3.00 per litre OUCH

So far, 55% of Range Rover owners appear to have diesel V8's.

Costco seems to be staying fairly sensible with its diesel pricing at the moment……

Personally I panic bought 3 tankfuls of fuel last week (all the cars and vans were pretty much empty and needed filling any way) but it has only increased a few pence so far.

In terms of used values I don’t think there will be much to choose between the 4.4 and 3.0 as far as relative residuals go. If anything I would say that they will converge slightly so arguably there will be more lost on the 4.4 but values are all over the place at the moment so predicting where things will be in any given time is nigh on impossible.

That and the current global situation leads me to think that it would be a better bet to hold on to solid things at the moment and for the foreseeable future. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

A search on Autotrader for all RRs for sale from 2012 to 2012 reveals (if I did it right):

3.0 diesel = 600

4.4 diesel = 629

Not much in it perhaps…

Can’t see the significant fuel prices doing much to help resale values of 5.0 petrols?

PX prices seem lower than I’d have thought as well

I can't comment on these newer cars as iv got a P38 v8, L322 v8 and a D3 tdv6 which is the family bus all will need to go due to ulez expansion.

So what am I going todo.......iv just bought a 4.2 rrs supercharged currently ulez compliant until they change what is and isn't a compliant engine.
