Body question

Sorry maybe not the right category but not sure which

Anyway pondering my next range whenever that may be.

I was always put off the sport (l320) as so many jobs like a cam belt even I believe were body off so Labour went silly.

The l322 obviously doesn’t have that issue but do the l405 as l494 or are they like the l322? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

No need to take the body off a Sport to change the cam belt . I don’t know the definitive answer about a L405 but I’ve never heard of the body coming off for any reason.

L405 and L494 are monocoque chassis so no body off for any job. You may need to take the engine out for certain jobs but not for the cam belt on the 3 litre. 4.4 is chain driven so no cam belt to worry about.

Thanks all - why did they make the l320 like that have really considered an l320 late 5.0 but it puts me off major works price could be double the labour Current stable:

Wasn’t it based on the Discovery chassis of the same era?

Yeah, was a Discovery 3 with a different body on….

The L405, like the L322, has front and rear subframes that can be unbolted and dropped down for various jobs.
